SmartCraft on pre-2004 engines?

Does anyone know if it's possible to retrofit a pre-2004 Merc engine with SmartCraft? If so, what's involved? After reading the VesselView thread, I'd like to figure out how to get SC on my '97 Merc engine.

I would like to know more as well about to do this to a 2002. But you just said 97... thats not smartcraft.

Without the can buss setup I`d say no
Your really better of with the analog setup anyway

the way I understand it before 2001, it was alot more basic and you cant just add smart craft. you can how ever buy a module to show you what that year motor doe shave sensors for its just not where aredetailed as smartcraft equiped

I have the Alba Combi, however I plan on replacing it with a couple of the fox-marine units. I'll then use the Alba on the genset and possibly fresh water and holding tanks
