When SmartCraft tells you bad sensor on engine # 1 is it referring to the Port or Starboard motor.
I am pretty sure it is the Starboard, ( Brain fart ) just want to make sure before I change anything.

I can't help with your actual question as to which engine is #1, but I can tell you that just because you get a code for a particular sensor, by no means does it mean that the sensor is definitely bad.
Just like when you go to AutoZone with your check engine light on and they say you have a code for a O2 sensor. That doesn't mean the O2 sensor is bad. There are many many things that can cause an O2 sensor code. Codes only tell you which page to open the book up to and do the pinpoint test, review live and freeze frame data.

Once again, proper diagnosis is 85% of the job. Anyone can throw parts at it costing money unnecessarily.

Engine Instance 0 is typically Port and Instance 1 is Starboard.

Thanks for the reply techmitch but this is for the digital trim sensor on a Bravo 3 drive as I am tired of changing it every year or two so I am going to tie wrap a new one to the back of the motor until I sell the boat so I do not keep getting the warning sign.
Before I cut the old wires and splice the new one in just want to make sure I am doing the right motor.

ttmott I agree with you but want to be more sure witch motor it is as SmartCraft labels the motors # 1 and # 2

Unplug each, one at a time in the ER and note the change on your smart craft.
