I've been really reading up on the Smart Tabs SX for my 2006 185 Sport and it looks like Im going to order the 60lb actuator. For those that have them installed on a late model 185 did you go with the 60s or 80s? Also do they really help with the bounce as advertised in choppy water? This would be the main reason for my purchase and install. So far everyone I've seen on this board has installed them on a 2005 or earlier model which has the curved transom so the 2006 with its flat transom should be very easy to install. Thanks in advance!

I think the 60lbs would be appropriate for what you need. I have the 40lb set on the stiffest 'setting' of the tab, and they work great. I might actually try the 20lb because I think I may have lost some top speed. I think 80lbs would be much to strong for an 18' boat.

Could you try a softer setting before
switching to the 40's or is it due to the curved transom you have to use the firm mounting point?

Hemi, be sure to tell us how they work out for you if you get them. I've been very interested in getting these for my 185 as well.

I can't adjust the tabs individually because of the curved transom. I have to use different actuators. You should have no problem adjusting the tabs as they were designed.

You definitely will not want the 80's.

I have the 60's on my 2007 185. I have them set on the lowest firmness and they do great. I picked up a little speed with them too.
