What do I need that is plug and play to see what smartcraft shows. My boat has it and the cannon plug so what items are necessary to veiw from helm,thanks guys

Try this thread. I added a Smartcraft NMEA gateway and built a NMEA backbone to connect it to my engine, Garmin, and Fusion. It gives me engine data on my Garmin and I can also control my Fusion on it. http://clubsearay.com/index.php?threads/who-has-added-smartcraft-to-their-engines.81806/page-5


Otherwise I believe there is a wireless or Bluetooth gateway that would work.

Not sure what that will get you. As mentioned, you could get the Bluetooth version and use your phone for data.

My GPS is brand new I think it's only been out for a year or two so it has the latest NEMA version but could you point me in the direction of the Bluetooth dongle thing please, I appreciate it

SmartCraft (your engines) and NMEA 2000 (your Garmin unit) are on two different bus types and are not natively compatible with each other. Bridging between the two is a bit more complex then simply wiring up a cable. What is needed is a "gateway" or bridge device that translates between the two bus types.

There are a number of gateways that can do this. Mercruiser makes one, as does Yacht Devices. If you just want to see the data on your smart-phone, then the bluetooth gateway mentioned earlier would meet your needs. If you want the engine data to show up on the Garmin unit, you'll need one of the other gateways.

What you are searching for, for connection to the Garmin, is a "SmartCraft to NMEA 2000 gateway".

That would be NMEA 2000. That is what is used to display engine data on the MFD. I am not sure what the SV72 supports in the way of data boxes etc. but here is an example:

I'm sorry it's an echo map hd 74 sv. It's does support mena 2000 . Engine gauges, auto pilot all that stuff plus fusion link whatever that is
