Last fall I purchased a 2003 Sun Deck 240 with 175 hours. Most of here life was in dry dock. We took it out once and winterized it. Yesterday We launched our first trip and things were going well when I noticed the Tach, Speedometer, Voltage and Fuel gauge all acting weird. The Speedo and Tack would move up and down at the same rate when I was just idling. I've disconnected all junctions and cleaned I can find, cleaned and reconnected with no success. If I disconnect the Smartcraft unit the 5.0 motor will still run but no gauges work....Is ther a way to test the Smartcraft unit?

Thanks in advance

I was working with my VesselView 4 yesterday and noticed "Simulate"mode; turned it on and the unit acted just like you described. This was with engines off, no idea if it keeps going like that when the engines are started but you might want to see if your unit has this mode and if it is on.

Update to the Smart craft.
I have Alnav to thank for this. I found a copy of the owners manual for the Mercury Smart craft. While I didn't find a"simulate" mode I did find a way to reset it to factory default. I tried it and it appears that corrected it. Everything works as it should. Right now it's on the trailer but this weekend I'll test it on the water. If it keeps working I saved $250.00 and have Alnav to thank.

BTW I think I messed it up playing with the settings when it happened. So it's always good to read the instructions before, to understand and not after to find out what you did wrong. :)
