Some how got two small cuts in the vinyl on our aft seat/engine cover. Each cut is about 1" long. Is there any vinyl repair kit (ie adhesive) that could do a decent job, or do i just get the thing re-upholstered?. The boat is a 2007 240 Sundeck, so tha vinyl is in very good shape (minus the cuts).

Thanks in advance

You can buy vinyl repair kits at any marine or auto store. I've used them myslef on autos in the past with mixed results.

The dealer, on the other hand, should be skilled enough to do a flawless repair for little cost.

I've used this product with very good results: http://www.plastidip.com/home_solutions/VLP

It costs about $5.

Don't try to do the whole thing at once. Use tape to hold the cut ends together while the glue dries. Pull the edges together gently with the tape, so it doesn't buckle the vinyl, glue on either side of the tape, not under the tape. Clean the vinyl good - Naptha works well.

Any vinyl repair shop - even automotive can do it for you if you want to go that route. Dealers usually sub-contract out, anyway, but not always.

I have tried the vinyl repair kits with little luck. They will close the rip, but I have never been able to make them look invisible.

My Marina contracts a company called "DR Vinyl" They have done these types of repairs for me and they were matched perfectly. You could try it yourself and if it doesn't work to your liking get the professional treatment. Most of the vinyl from the kits can be removed with a little Isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ball. So if you make a mess, you can always undo it.

Best of luck

Take it to your dealer. It will be money well spent:thumbsup:
