Small boats I've taken to the islands!

It is a aiming device that helps me point the boat in the right direction. So I don't miss the islands when we are out of sight of land!
Just Kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Actually the thing on the bow is called a bollard. I had to install it, to be able to use the anchor roller sea ray made. The bow light is mounted right in the way of the anchor line, so in order to raise the line over the light I had to raise the line attachment point. I know it's crazy but there is no way to secure the line to the side cleats due to the line hitting the side of the roller (sharp edge) and then would saw thru the line. There was/is no provision for a straight pull from the anchor roller so I did what I did. Hey, I didn't design the dang thing, I just had to make it work!
I just have to say also, the "authorized" roller won't even store the anchor! The anchor hits the bow. Like I said I didn't design it! I'm just the sucker that bought it!!!!!!!LOL, laughing at myself.

Any photos of the boundary of the ocean and the Gulf Stream?

No, no pics of the boundary.

I'm not sure what exactly your asking though. Unless your wondering about water color change? When in south Fla, there isn't much change like off the coast of the Carolinas.

It could be I don't pay enough attention though.

Fish nut, my GPS unit has a internal antenna, no puck to mount, works great.

Yea, I fear Gary, and his "antenna must be vertical" speach. Plus I'm just not part of the cool crowd that has the lean going on.LOL
Naw really it's all about performace of the radio, and straight up gives the best signal.
Now on the Lake.....LOL

Islandhopper00 very cool.

Do you have any info regarding overnight/marinas in Bimini?

Also, The Hemingway Triangle is on my "bucket list".

Key West to Havana, Havana to Bimini, Bimini to Key West.

Summerwind,
Bimini island is made up of North and South Bimini. South Bimini is mostly resident houses. North Bimini is the "tourist" town, named Alicetown. There are more marinas than I know or frequent. That said the pictures taken are of Blue Water Marina, it is a basic marina. It provides a secure slip, power and water as basic services for a much cheaper or maybe I should use the word inexpensive alternative to the high end marinas. There is a swimming pool and the shower facilities are great. There is also a picnic area with grill and becomes a gathering point when the big fishing boats return and begin grilling fish. Crap now I'm killing myself. Can't wait for my summer trip. The best feature is it is right "downtown, and you can walk most anywhere you want.

The next and in "MY" opinion the best, Big Game Marina. It's more expensive though, but all you need is right there in the marina. Restruant, shopping, pools, hotel rooms, and bar. Still a small marina atmosphere though. It is located near downtown, and still within walking distance of most everything, even the sandy beaches on the west side of the island. Catch is, it can be difficult to secure a slip if the fishing tournaments are in town.

Finally, the granddaddy of marinas, Bimini Bay Resort. It's a brand new, and upscale, high end marina. Most costly but, heck your on vacation. (it's also the big boat marina, so if you have big boat envy, don't go there!) There is no need to stray away from it. Every thing you need or want is there, BUT, if you want to experience the native people you won't see it there. You'll have to rent a golf cart and venture to the south, back into town for that.

In all the marinas are all hospitable and you'll be welcomed well by each. The Bahamas toursism association keeps "irresponsible" locals in check. And they realize where the bread is buttered from. In fact last time I was there on the forth of July, They held a street party for their American guests. All the food was locally made and drinks and everything was FREE. Impressed me.

I sound like a tour guide or something. Sorry. I love the Bahamas, and I haven't even touched on all the fishing, dive spots, and the sunsets. Rumrunners all around!
You can google the marinas and get their information, or if need be I'll dig into my bag of Bahamas info. Enjoy Mike

I'll need to look at mine, it came with the anchor roller and I don't recall how it is set up. I think it may just have the cleats on each side the same as yours.

Love Bimini and last year met some new friends by going with the Bahamas Tourism Office on their "summer flings". The first one this year to Bimini will be June 17-21, which I hope to go on. We had about 20 boats and stayed at Bimini Big Game and had a blast.

Will start a thread as it gets closer to see who wants to join this year.

Where do you get the information on the flings? I have looked on the net but can't seem to find it, of course I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but I would think I would be able to find that....any help would be appreciated...thx...

Nice Barry - I was talking with Ray about that at the last raft off - I will definitely be interested in that.

Here's the link to the tentative schedule for the flings. They have an extended one to Abaco/Grand Bahamas July 15-26 as well as Bimini/Andros/Nassau from August 12-23

http://www.bahamas.com/bahamas/boating-fling-schedule-2009

We can start a separate link in about a month or so once they confirm the schedule.

Chad, Ray and I had a great time and look forward to going back down again!
