My fresh water tank has been filling extremely slow lately. Could it be related to the heat? Here in Vegas, it’s been 105+ for the last several weeks. Looks like the tank could be getting vapor locked.

I see there's a breather hose that runs parallel to the larger fill hose - doesn't appear to be clogged though.

Anyone else have this problem?

I can't imagine a vapor lock condition with fresh water. I'd try to blow air through the breather hose and see if it helps - may have a bug or something. I'd do this from the tank side if you can get the hose off the tank - this way any debris will be blown out vs. into the tank.

Clear the hose as mentioned above. Next, follow the vent line. Look for any dips or low spots. The vent line should continue in an upward trend toward the fill. If not, there is probably water in it - preventing the tank from filling. Adjust the vent hose as needed. Make sure you stick the fresh water hose being used for filling past the vent before turning on the water.

How do you release a Sea Ray hose clamp?

The clamp that's on the tank side of the beather hose won't come loose. Even if I completely remove the tightening screw it won't back off.

Pretty sure I've read here on CSR that overfilling the tank can lead to water in the vent tube. Any chance of this happning?

Yes, that can happen. The reason you stick the filling hose into the deck plate about 6 inches is so you get the hose past the built-in vent. Otherwise, you may be putting some water into the vent line. Look inside the deck plate - you'll see the vent.

Clamp: Just play with it. Push on the side of the clamp that has a gap between it and the hose. There's nothing special to these clamps - just regular, old hose clamps.

Scott, I'm at Lake Mead as well and never had a problem filling too slow. I agree with the others, check for a blocked or kinked breather hose line.

Does water come out of the breather vent when the tank gets full? If not, it should which means it is probably blocked. Also, if you listen closely, you should be able to hear air escaping while filling......

I can tell you that when I loosen the fitting at the pump - water pours out without the pump being on - which leads me to believe the tank is under pressure.

If the beather hose was working properly this wouldn't happen right?

Not necessarily - it could just be the water draining back from all of the faucets.

Take the vent line off the tank and clear/adjust as mentioned above. Then see what's going on.

Some of the comments had me go look at my tank and hose configuration. I almost always fill until water comes out of the vent - lets me know the tank is full and flushes out any debris which may be in the vent itself. Everything is at a downward angle so the water in the vent then drains back into the tank and I've never had an issue. I started this back when I had my travel trailers since spiders and bugs liked the vent for some reason and never had any problems then either. I can always hear air escaping when I fill up. Any negatives you all have experienced with this or am I the only one who fills like this?

Shoot. I just stick a hose about 4-6" into the fill tube and turn it on. I usually just walk away from it and do something else until I see the water overflowing. Never looked to see if it was coming out of a vent, or just backwashing out of the fill tube.
Never had a problem...
