Slip rental for 2011

That's a nice area, I use to live on the Manasquan River in Brielle across from the little island.
It is, there's no Recession there or on the water! That's why I bought the new boat, couldn't afford the Zip Code and if I get bored with the view I pick up and move!

Why? In many areas here the slip fees I pay would not even cover the property taxes even with a "nothing" house on it.

Now if you are the original owner of a house you purchased 20 or so years ago it Might? be to your advantage.

My father bought his house (where I slip my boat) in '91. His taxes are now equal to my mortgage. I do pay a reduced dockage fee to him and I do offer up plenty of manual labor around his property to help him out.

Also in Brick,NJ but on the Metedeconk River, bay side of the Canal. I think it's $3800 for the summer (april1 - nov1 if I so desire), another $1200(??) for staying on the hard all winter. Electric is metered and I pay - water is included. Got Direct TV (which I pay for), no internet. Pool...priceless and free.

Marshall, ya gotta come over to the bay. I'd kill myself if I had to go through that stupid canal everytime I wanted to go somewhere besides Treasure Island or the mighty Atlantic.

Bay???..........

Funny, I'd say that if I had to go though the PP canal every time I wanted to go in the Ocean. Anyway, if things stay the way they are you won't even be able to swim in BB bay unless you go to the ocean. (lovely little jellyfish) Also.... "Benny's" love the bay. Just sayin....Brian

They used to be Suburban Boat Works or something before MM took over. The Mech.Tech's that have worked on my boat have done a Superb Job!

Ditto on M.M. mech's at my marina

Well. . my experience was 5 years ago. I was impressed enough with the service to seek out a private mechanic who comes to the boat.

I am on the South Side of the Canal. Property taxes are definately higher than these slip rates - - -> but not by a factor of two. Makes me feel better about having the property!

Ron, I'd love too! But I'm in Freehold and it would add another 15 to 20 minute commute to what's already a half hour drive! I've got a Navy Buddy who runs a Marina down in Forked River called I think the Tides End! Almost at the end of the river before Rt. 9. But that's a long way to drive!!!

I feel your concern,:smt009 we're 45 minutes away and looking to move closer to the water....

Hey Brian, Watch it I used to be a BENNY! or Shoebee! About 14 years ago!!:smt021 The Bay is not that bad and it all depends on where you go! If you want to hang out at F-Cove with the Greenheads and go swimming in water thats green and hasn't been oxygenated for 5 years and has snapping turtles that eat ducks then thats it!!!:smt038

Hey Bri', did you get confirmation on the "Next winter storage and Splashing for 2012"? I wrote a check a month ago and haven't heard anything back from "Timmy"!

NO benny here. I live south of the Driscoll Bridge.

Marshall, my marina is 5 minutes west of MarineMax on Rt 70.

We balked at all Manasquan River marinas 10 years ago when we were scouting places. We don't fish so there's no reason for us to be close to the inlet. And if you leave the channel on the Manasquan you're in 1' of water. Oh, and the railroad bridge... Fuggeddaboudit (whoops, Freudian slip from a recovering Brooklyn benny).

Oh yeah, and I haven't been in F cove in 6 years. Did drive through on a friend's jet boat a couple of years ago, for laughs.

Yeah, sent our contract on 12/8 and still nothing. Maybe this year is free? Marshall I sent you a PM. Brian

Ron okay if your west of us you got to be in the Squan right? Or are you South and west on the other side of PP Canal?

south and west. Metedeconk River.

Brian, sorry - born and bred in Brooklyn,NY. Been in NJ for 1/4 of my life, in MD 1/11 of my life. 34/44 in NYC.

Benny, by your definition ;-)

I grew up in NJ so I know what Benny means but I'm sure many others are wondering.

Benny is a derogatory term used by year-round residents of the Jersey Shore to describe summer-only residents who descend upon the area from northern New Jersey cities and New York. It is often said to be an acronym for some of the places that the tourists come from: "Bayonne, Elizabeth, Newark, and New York" (hence B,E,N,NY)

$110 a foot (LOA) and it did not go up this year.

even though it is LOA, they are charging me for 28' instead of 32' because I gave them a hard time. I am in a open basin with no boats across from me so my argument was, My length is not getting in the way of other boats.

so $3080 + 150 for electric--No meter (NOTE: this is one of two marina's. the main marina charges $150 + Meter)

This included winter storage. I pay for haul out and drop in at $6 a foot.

Rumor has it, that the Rail Road Cars that came down the "Shore Line" had that painted in their sides.
And for "Escapees" of Philadelphia SHOEBES was their term of endearment cause they would come down to the shore and leave their "Shoe Box lunch TRASH" on the beach and return home!!!
