The sliding door on my 26 Sundancer is great. Sturdy, with built-in steps to get to the front of the boat, but it's getting harder and harder to open and close. It seems to run on a couple of metal tracks, and I tried lubing them with WD-40, spray grease and silicone, but with no help. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

the decks collapse, in a way, because structurally, they are built poorly. SR, for some reason, thought it wise to leave the topside unsupported, except with the molded fiberglass, but with every wave you bump off of, with every step you take on the deck, it slowly migrates downward. so, you have vertical pressure squeezing the tracks together, unfortunately. i would offer that there is probably no way to fix this, except to install a smaller doorway, which is impractical, at best!

lol ... i found i had to teach the family when closing to push left and up at the same time...

Cleaning the tracks and lubricating them is a continuous maintenance activity. Also, not just the part of the track you see try to get back as far as possible. When I had my 260DA it was a daily maintenance to keep sand and dirt out.

I fought the same issue when we had our 2006. Take a water hose with a high pressure nozzle, open the door and spray like hell the lower track. Aim it under the helm and wash it out good. Some Dawn and a brush as much as you can get to it. Do the same thing up top. Dry it well and lube with some dry teflon spray you can get at HD. When you close the door, if you have 2-sets of 2-screws, there are while UHMW blocks attached under these screws that slide in the tracks.

Here is the part numbers for the blocks SR PN-2078306-Block, Nylon-1.43”X1 1/8”X1” WHT F/1. It takes 2 of these. Yours is a 2004 so make sure yours is like the 2006. Not sure. However, the washing and lubing are the same.
