Has anyone successfully connected a Siren Marine wireless bilge pump sensor to a Rule Mate pump? The Rule Mate pumps use a field effect sensor to detect high water vs a traditional float. It seems to be allowing a constant 12v on the lines. This setup seems to cause a problem with the Siren sensor because it's looking for a voltage differential detect if the pump is operating.

@b_arrington So at first glance it's capacitance that detects the water level. And the pump has three wires, black (gnd) and brown/white on (12v) and Brown auto (12v) so there isn't going to be a float detection circuit that the Siren can monitor.

@b_arrington Brad this current detection module may work you. I would try this on the auto line first. For $7 it may be worth a try. It has a current sensitivity adjustment and a relay output for the Siren input.

Thanks, this is a good idea. That particular one looks to sense AC current but I found one that senses DC current.
My thinking is I can connect the bilge pump power supply to check the current. Measure the current at steady state, and set the relay to close at a value above that to detect when the pump is running. That would send 12v to the Siren sensor and kick off an alert.

My bad looked quickly and saw DC, but that was for power.

This one may do the trick. A little more setup time and experimentation, but should work if it works as advertised.

I'm going to try this one. It seems to be configurable to set thresholds for the current detection that trigger the relay.

I found one that was cheap and had a nice housing and almost had it shipped when I realized it was a voltage sensor, not a current sensor. whomp whomp.

I saw that one, but to me it looks a bit complicated for what your trying to do. The one I posted is only one threshold so it would be on or off. But good luck, post back on how it works out.
