? Simrad Shipmate Cp32

YwlJacket, Thanks for asking. Believe or not it went really well. Engines and generator performed GREAT which tickled me to death. The survey gurus from the West Coast gave the thumbs up this time  . Just waiting for written forms and oil samples and i believe its a go. I spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel per Franks directions and i warmed to it pretty quick. I need to spend a day or two with a Capt docking, cruising, systems etc...
The boat has B&G. FURNO AND The simrad chartplotter. Just trying to find out if i need to update chartplotter or if i could wait a little.
Iam used to Garmin 3010 network bundle. So the old electronics were a little differant and hard to get used to in that short of time. Really the only issue was one cut bearing. No moisture anywhere on the hull. No major issues on the bottom. All systems functioned. It was a good day. So Iam almost a 45 Guy!!! :smt038 JC

JC:

Sounds great....all this talk about a 45 club I may have start thinkng about moving up and I didn't even take delivery of my 41 yet....
If my wife ever read this, I'd be lucky to keep the dinghy...

Dominic, I couldnt think of anybody else that would be as good a "45 GUY" than you! Just call your broker Monday and tell him youre ready to move up, youre allready tired of the 41  JC

Glad to hear it JC. I hope this works for you. Here you are ready and prepared, and having to search.

I had been searching, but wasn't really financially ready yet. I have spent the whole last month doing financial gymnastics to set things up.

Your trials and tribulations have almost made me feel guilty, so I can finally sleep better at night knowing you're getting there. :smt015

Congrats, and keep us posted.

Mike

Mike, Dont you think Dominic has enough time on his 41 and needs to join the "45 gang"? JC
Thanks Mike, its been tough at times but i think we got a good, solid boat at a fair price. Now. back to brother Dominic :smt043

He has about as much time in this boat as he logged in his others before trading them into larger ones.

He'll probably blow right past, into like the 48 club, by next spring, and then he won't talk to us small boat guys any more.

Mike, My wife saw that "48" number and said Dominics wife might be on the right track with "Dinghy Only Gang" :smt089 UH, OH! JC

It's 5:15AM and I just got back from walking my "wife and daughter's" dog ....thier all asleep again, and now I am back on the laptop with my cup o' joe.....

Didn't I show you guys...I alreay am a member of the 48 club......and it has crew....pets on board...

Simrad was/is a maker of durable, high quality marine electronics. While I don't have experience with the model you have, I can make some guesses...........assuming that it works, it was sold at a time when the hardware and software makers were miles ahead of their ability to write an understandable maunal. Expect all the functions to be there, but some may be awkward to access, and defy common sense in formatting.

When your b oat was made an outside contractor supplies and installed the electronics on most Sea Rays. The larger boats with more expensive electronics usually had B&G electronics and VHF's with Furuno radar and either a B&G LCD plotter or a Furuno RP110 plotter. If someone had a problem with the B&G plotter or did not like toggling from the radar to the chart with the RP110, then one of the next best alternatives was the Simrad.

The Simrad plotter is going to be like the B&G electronics on your boat......as good as anything out there today as far a accuracy and doing the job, but it won't have some of the bells and whistles and will be more difficult to learn. If you do not have a Simrad manual, they are available online.....search Google. B&G has some "flash cards" for their equipment which gives you easy quick steps to do the most common functions. I have a set that I can copy if you would like them.

Should you decide to replace the B&G stuff, keep me in mind.......I'd be interested in all of it.
