I've tried search, google, now here!

Just traded my motorcycle for a 83 searay 270. GREAT trade I think for the family (we have 8 children by marriage)

Anyway there is a small pole about 18" attached to the front railing above the anchor. What is its purpose? It's loose and dangles down and can slide around the nose railing.

My thoughts are its a flag pole and should infact be upright and tight. My wife thinks its something else but a mystery ...

Ideas?

Also ... have a humminbird 593, the manual cover picture shows a simulated marine map with depth contour lines. Anyone know how to have the display show that? Im assuming I need the marine maps loaded on the memory card ( additional purchase) but the manual does not mention it.

Thanks and looking forward being a Searay owners member!

Those of us in Yacht clubs put our club burgees on those little flag poles. You can get a
club sea-ray burgee or even a pirate burgee to fly on it if you like.

It's a flag pole.

The Humminbird probably needs a chart cartridge to show bottom countours. You will need the correct chart for your area. There are a bunch of different ones that cover a specific area. Make sure to get the right one for your region.

Second thought, it could already have the chart card in it and a previous owner turned off the bottom contour mode. I have a Humminbird gps sounder also and that's what I did. Keep your manual handy and you can get it set the way you like it.

First off... congratulations on the first boat! And yes it is a little flag pole, which should be able to be tightened by hand or screw driver... I would recommend you get a burgee, in my opinion the look classy.... my little 15 center console even has one, the sea ray would, but no where to attach it.... get one and put it on...thats Just my opinion....... but remember, burgees can be pricey, I spent 50 dollars on mine  isn't boating fun! Just wait until you fill up with gas:smt100
