Russ,
Congratulations on your new 460. I bought mine last year. I keep it in Newport, RI. Maybe we can meet up this summer and compare notes.
I cruised all around New England this past summer - RI MA NH ME. I took it to Florida in November, singlehanded all the way. It
handled well in varying seas and docking by myself was not too difficult. I am staying in Florida until late April, then I will take a
few weeks to return to RI for the 2012 summer.
I have the GHS platform. It is a must have for me because Jake, my 12 year old lab, can't get on the boat from the water very easily. Also, I don't know how else I would carry my dinghy. If I towed it, singlehanded docking would be much more difficult, having to move it around while backing in, etc. (side note - you can disconnect the wire to the beeper that sounds when oerating the lift, eliminating the garbage truck syndrom
Good luck with the boat!
Mike
How did it go today?
.....It's pretty twisted to spend a bunch of money, 4 years labor and more money getting a boat just the way you want it, sell it and spend a bunch more money to buy another and start all over again....
That's not a good question to ask yourself right after you signed the contract. :smt043......I'm just busting your chops.
To ease the pain I tried no to spend too much money on upgrading stuff on my previous boats, only what I thought was important. I knew that it was just a matter of time before we'll upgrade again and 4 yrs seams to be the number. I'm sure that when you get settled with 460 you'll say that this one is to stay for a looooong time. After we got our 420, for the first time I told my wife that
we're not upgrading for many years, unless I hit the lotto. Big diesel boat will make you happy and after you fix one thing at the
time all your concerns about previously spent money on the other boat will be forgotten. The overwhelming feeling will settle
sooner than you think. All you need to do is prioritize the list and address must have items. The other minor stuff might be done
when you have the time and money. The main thing is that you said all major stuff checked out fine. Try to have the owner to
take care of some items and looks like you're on the way to the bank for the rest 90%.
Russ... If you need any work done in NJ, I know the best place near where the boat is... Brian at Dillon's Creek is the best! Here is their website: http://www.dillonscreekmarina.net/ Frank H keep's his 410 DA there, and some other CSR guys too...
Thanks Rod, I'm pretty sure I will only be doing the necessary motor maintenance prior to running back. I hope to do most other stuff myself - I hope to get her to CT in early March. Good to know though, thanks.
That's great! I've never heard of such a thing! Yes, she has less than a quarter, I'm guessing I will need 360 gallons.
Good news, I negotiated an adjusted sale price based on survey results and we agreed on a number and will work out a closing date to occur within the next couple weeks.
Almost time for a monster Rum and Coke. Congrats.
