Signed Contract!

Russ, here are the stats i have (per engine):

RPMs = GPH
--------------------
1000 = 1.9
1200 = 2.9
1750 = 9
2000 = 10.4
2200 = 13.4
2400 = 17.4

If I'm going 21-22kts @2200RPMs burning 26-27GPH (total), I'd say it's not too bad at all.

Russ,

Congratulations on your new 460. I bought mine last year. I keep it in Newport, RI. Maybe we can meet up this summer and compare notes.

I cruised all around New England this past summer - RI MA NH ME. I took it to Florida in November, singlehanded all the way. It handled well in varying seas and docking by myself was not too difficult. I am staying in Florida until late April, then I will take a few weeks to return to RI for the 2012 summer.

I have the GHS platform. It is a must have for me because Jake, my 12 year old lab, can't get on the boat from the water very easily. Also, I don't know how else I would carry my dinghy. If I towed it, singlehanded docking would be much more difficult, having to move it around while backing in, etc. (side note - you can disconnect the wire to the beeper that sounds when oerating the lift, eliminating the garbage truck syndrome)

Good luck with the boat!

Mike

Mike, that sounds great- I would really like to talk to you about your boat and experience, thanks.

How did it go today?

Just got home about an hour ago, it was a crazy day. I have a laundry list of issues and néw projects ahead of me if this deal closes. My head is still spinning but the important stuff is all very good. A lot of cosmetic/luxury and electric "issues" that if were handled when they occurred were relatively minor issues but when piled up are a little overwhelming. I am sure we can come to an agreement and will move to close, I am just hoping I don't regret it!
It's pretty twisted to spend a bunch of money, 4 years labor and more money getting a boat just the way you want it, sell it and spend a bunch more money to buy another and start all over again.
I will spend some time later elaborating on the crazyness, there were 5 people on the boat today to survey and run the boat. Unprofessional would be an understatement from part of the crew followed closely by the poor Cummins guy breaking down twice, shuttling him back and forth to get tools to the boat and ending the day with a parking lot alternator swap. Oh yeah then. 3.5 hr ride home :) alls well that ends well- isn't that what they say!?

That's not a good question to ask yourself right after you signed the contract. :smt043......I'm just busting your chops.

To ease the pain I tried no to spend too much money on upgrading stuff on my previous boats, only what I thought was important. I knew that it was just a matter of time before we'll upgrade again and 4 yrs seams to be the number. I'm sure that when you get settled with 460 you'll say that this one is to stay for a looooong time. After we got our 420, for the first time I told my wife that we're not upgrading for many years, unless I hit the lotto. Big diesel boat will make you happy and after you fix one thing at the time all your concerns about previously spent money on the other boat will be forgotten. The overwhelming feeling will settle sooner than you think. All you need to do is prioritize the list and address must have items. The other minor stuff might be done when you have the time and money. The main thing is that you said all major stuff checked out fine. Try to have the owner to take care of some items and looks like you're on the way to the bank for the rest 90%.

Always a calming voice of reason Alex, thanks

Russ... If you need any work done in NJ, I know the best place near where the boat is... Brian at Dillon's Creek is the best! Here is their website: http://www.dillonscreekmarina.net/ Frank H keep's his 410 DA there, and some other CSR guys too...

Thanks Rod, I'm pretty sure I will only be doing the necessary motor maintenance prior to running back. I hope to do most other stuff myself - I hope to get her to CT in early March. Good to know though, thanks.

Assuming you will need fuel.... I believe Alex uses Dover Fuel... They will deliver to the boat and it is less expensive than Marina prices... Tells when you plan on picking up the boat so we can see you off, and take some pics for CSR...

Rod you're correct. My marina allows fuel delivery, so I gladly save around .40-.50 p/g. Good reminder on your part, Rod.

Russ, chances are you'll have the opportunity to fill her up using Dover Diesel while she's at her current dock.

That's great! I've never heard of such a thing! Yes, she has less than a quarter, I'm guessing I will need 360 gallons.

Good news, I negotiated an adjusted sale price based on survey results and we agreed on a number and will work out a closing date to occur within the next couple weeks.

Congratulations Russ,

The 460DA is a great boat and should serve you well for many years to come. If the survey comes back with any dialog that you may be unfamiliar with or if something is noted on that boat that is a concern...please feel free to contact me and ask for answers to questions.

At your service for this one Mr. Calasant, should you need me.

Rusty

Sweet, see you in Jersey in the early spring.
