Siesta Key Info?

We're thinking about spending a few days there later on this month. Any recommendations for a place where we could rent a runabout for a day or so (I hate to drag ours 500 miles each way then rewinterize it again). Any other words of wisdom would be appreciated.

We had good luck this past summer with Cannon's Marina on Longboat Key. They seem to allow the greatest range of any of the rental places in the area, and our boat (a 23' deckboat) was in great shape. I used the local yellow pages and was able to find several places to rent while we were on Anna Maria Island.

Cannon's is good, although it is about 20 miles from Siesta Key. A more central choice would be Marina Jack, right downtown. As you are facing the marina from the street, walk down the left side seawall towards Island Park. Just at the curve to go out to the park, there is a boat rental that has many 22-25' outboard boats. the marina is a great place to go to as well, so at the end of your day, you are right at an outdoor tiki bar at Island Park, or the marina resturant/bar proper, with their million dollar view. they have fuel docks right there, so you can refuel 500 feet from the return spot.
