Shower sump pump box

So I replaced the rule switch then checked the breaker ,it had popped reset that and the pump started working but when the water was pumped out the pump stopped, then the water in the discharge line emptied back in the shower box and he pump would start again and popped the breaker again . Maybe it needs a one way check valve in the discharge line. Does any one a any ideas. rule 750 with a rule switch

Had the exact same symptom with my shower sump when I purchased the boat from the previous owner. Pump would run a little bit then the breaker would trip. I replaced the pump to resolve it. Must have been an intermittent short inside the pump.

I have the float switch go bad, what had happened was that a small hole somehow developed in the swing arm portion of the float arm, allowed water in which would make the float run all of the time, I changed out the complete float assembly.. If your sump is like mine inside a bout a clear one foot square box, then I would say it would have to be either the pump or the float switch. I am guessing that Sea Ray did not put a check valve in so that water would not stagnate inside the line and create odors, plus possible eventually block up with mildew growth.

So I removed the pump from the sump box and out of the water and pressed the 5 amp breaker in the engine room. The motor spun for 20 sec and popped the breaker. Off the west marine for a new pump. I tried to match up the Attwood 750 pump with the new models and they don't line up with the discharge tube on the bottom that connects to the hose on the box. I purchased a complete shower sump box pump, switch, box and all. Game over back to boating thank you all for taking the time to read and responding to my dilemma.

Shower sump on your 370
Can you tell me if your auto light in the shower is always on. My boat mechanic wired a new box, pump and switch and I don't remember if the green auto light was
Always on before. The run red light comes on when the pump go's on.

Thanks

Tucked up high in the bilge area where the sump is located.

Any advice on how to get access to replace pump on SR 270 sundancer? Pump is under the 2nd step and has a wood cut out for waste basket, hard enough to get my arms in there and see what your doing?
Thanks!

I am having a slightly different problem. Water is leaking from the shower sump box at the point where the white sump hose exits the box. It doesn't happen when the boat is calmly in the slip ... but anytime I'm out in the waves, etc and the water is sloshing around it leaks and ends up getting the forward bilge under the cabin floor wet.

I have tried to add caulk but it's still leaking - and frankly I am having a bad time "seeing / feeling" under the hose to make sure I am getting the caulk in all the right places - obviously I am missing some key spots.

Has anybody had more success than me and have tips to share? Or has anybody replaced the caulk with some sort of water tight gasket?

Here are pics of what I am talking about:
IMG_7972.jpeg - Here is a pic of the sump box. The leak is coming where the white corrugated pump out hose exits the box.
IMG_7973.jpeg - Here is a close up of the existing sealant that surrounds the hose on the inside of the box.

I’d say try to replace the whole unit. Looks kind of cobbled together at this point?

@b_arrington - thanks for your reply - but that would be my *last* resort.

All the off the shelf sump boxes I could find online have all the entry / exit points on the same end. I would have to reroute and/or extend with couplings the existing hoses and pipes - which would result in something *really* “cobbled together”.
