A Bus is a commercial vehicle in CA so maybe it belongs here. This is the Cliff notes version. I had a 1959 23 window deluxe bus in the late 80s that I had to sell and always wanted another one. We have built up several VWs over the years (Bugs, Bajas, a Ghia and a couple of Things) but the prices of buses have gone through the roof. I decided to try the difficult route and keep costs down. About 6 years ago I found the rear 2/3rd of a 1959 panel bus in Yuma AZ. A few months later I picked up the front 1/3rd, a 1962 hack. Our twin boys went off to college later that year and the wife asked me to slow down on VW purchases as the college bills started to rack up. Fast forward to 2020 and they were ready to graduate and she let me continue with the project. After a lot of new sheet metal humpty dumpty was back together again in 2021 and she went from a panel bus to a 11 window. Now we are working on the drivetrain in 2022. I have a pro street 68 Bug transaxle with a Kennedy adaptor to the 2.5 Subaru to increase the HP from 40 in a typical bus to 200. The stock front suspension was replaced with an air ride beam and the drums replaced with drilled and slotted rotors and Wilwood brakes. The stock Subaru computer and harness were modified and trimmed down to the basics to run in the bus. I’m hoping it is running and driving by next summer and then it will be on to the body work. Here are a few thumbnail pictures of the journey.

Here is what it looks like now and what I am shooting for:

If that last picture is an indication of what it looks like now, not much body work to do...

Do these count? Thought since a Bronco slipped in, Jeep should be represented as well.

Well, I joined the Jeep club last week. Bought this 2015 out of Granbury TX. Beautiful condition and heavily loaded with options. In January it'll make the trek to it's permanent home in Port Richey, FL and become our over-sized golf cart.

Bit concerned about the black paint in the heat of Florida but after physically looking at 7 jeeps this one just stood out above all the others. When buying used you have to compromise.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm calling the shop to see when I'll get my truck back. We're on week 6 now.

I like it, looks good.

First car I ever drove was a real mini. I love those cars.

Not to get off topic but me too. I had a few over the years. My old man built a Mini van up with a SBC in the back, and a Porsche 5-speed transaxle. 430 hp at the crank. It went like a raped ape!

Here's another one I had ( the perfect clown car )

Now truckless for the first time in a long time :(. The Escalade is great for bringing boat stuff and parts to/from the marina. With the 2nd and 3rd rows folded down and the back glass up, you can fit a ton!

that’s the reason why I went with a light color on the bronco and the soft top (Fla) ordered it last year and if it was going to take any longer I was getting a Rubicon
I see a nice stang on that garage..

My buddy in high school got a mini for his birthday…. He got razzed hard core as we were all on the football team. At a party one weekend at a stranger house. Everyone on the football team thought it would be funny to pick the mini up and put it on the front porch of the neighbor house. It took 6 of us…. We had a bit of a journey as the house next door was kind of far and a big front yard….. but got it done. Funniest thing you have seen

Ford's done such a great job with the retro thing. T'bird, Mustang, and now the Bronco.

My buddy just received his two year wait on the Bronco, man they did such an amazing job on that. I was really impressed with the whole package.

I'll play...

'06 Ram 2500 Hemi...sold it when I move to a company ride...

'14 F150 3.5 EcoBoost...bought it when we switched from company provided to an allowance...

'16 F150 2.7 EcoBoost...bought it to get the panoramic moonroof and the new body style...(and the '14 hit 60k miles). My son got to pull the plastic off when she arrived.

'19 Ram 1500 Hemi...the '16 hit 60k miles...time for a new ride...

Sold it after switching back to a company car and was tired of watching her sit....barely broken in with 20k miles. By far, the '19 Ram was the favorite of the bunch and I'm very tempted to order another new one...

Did you have a preference on the HEMI pushrod motor over ecoboost?

Tried and true NA V8 vs a turbo was all. All three were great trucks....I am looking for another Ram though, but that's a truck preference as I liked it better than the F150.

I will say the 2.7 was a great all around motor though...

Good stuff! A friend has his new F350 crew sitting in the back of the dealership's lot up here waiting for it's chip. Not sure why it would have been shipped without it. Maybe a storage thing at the factory or just trying to fill the truck.
