I'm not understanding why that would be deemed worthy advice. I've never competed with any firearms but a long time ago I did in archery. I could shoot a perfect score in points but the X ring count inside the bull was the tie breaker if needed. I could never shoot a 300 with 60 X's, always 57-58 or 59. I'd be surprised your friend would throw a shot on purpose;) more than likely he really just folded under the pressure like I used to do.

Kinda like bowling. I could never get 300 but one time I lucked out and got 265. Normally I’m at 170 average.

I've got a 4506, I never liked it. Should have got rid of it 25 years ago.

The way I was taught if your shooting with a 22 always heart or head. If you don't the little stuff can crawl away, hide on you...some of the big stuff can get pissed.:D

Legal reasons. This was a law enforcement qualification. You get a perfect score then you ever have to shoot someone a good attorney may bring up the fact that you are a perfect shot and could have ended the threat without killing the guy. This came from PA police firearms instructors.

It’s the exact same advice my instructor gave this past Sunday.

He threw the last shot on his test purposely. The reasons he gave were purely liability/legal arguments that will be made against you in court if you terminate someone. They’ll make the case it was not self defense. That your expertise was offensive in nature.

    I don’t have that problem.

Not many do have that problem... I've been through 100s, if not thousands of training and qualifications shoots for rifle and pistol as a Marine as well as a State and Federal LEO. Perfect scores are extremely few and far between. If perfect scores are happening, the training or qual needs to be looked at.

Funny you say that, I really was not fond of the 4006. I still have it, but it stays in the gun safe. That thing unloaded is about the same weight as my XD fully loaded

I understood RBB. I guess if I thought that's what I was up against I'd use my 30-06 deer rifle or 12ga w/slugs, that's the hardest hitting stuff I got. Don't know if that would be good enough, I don't know anything about body armor.

Your crotch shot comment triggered a story.:)

I used to go to a lot of archery club shoots. One club had a really nice clubhouse, 20 shooters on the line at the same time in the indoor range. They had a bar in the clubhouse that could seat about as many. The club was well run and they put a lot of effort into making their shoots a good time.

I was there for their annual Valentine's Day Shoot. When the competition was over the bar was getting plenty of activity, everyone was gettin' smiley and haven a good time. In the indoor range they hung large summer sausages on a string from the ceiling. They'd set the dangling sausages swinging, for a buck a shot you could shoot at that swinging meat, hit it and it was your prize.

I paid my buck and shot the sausage. One of the club officers wives was handing out the prizes when this fun was done. At the time I thought of her as 'old', she was about 50, I was in my mid 30's maybe that's why. When she handed me my prize she leaned in a little closer and said 'I'd like to have a shot at your sausage sometime.':D

I see Alec Baldwin is claiming that he 'never pulled the trigger' when he shot that young woman.

About 20 years ago me and my brother-in-law were at the range shooting our rifles. Mine a 270 and his a 300 Rem Mag. So for some reason they had a led ball chained to a rail at the 100 yard mark and it was part of the range. So we took turns at shooting the ball and I'm watching him shoot through my scope. So I can see the nut and bolt that go through the chain holding it up. So I jokingly said to him, 'watch this'. Can't say for sure that I hit the bolt but if not I hit the chain as the led ball fell to the ground. We looked at each other and both of our jaws were about on the ground...lol.

I’m sure my numbers are in the amateur range for some, but I own around 25 guns and have owned at least two since I was a teenager. (I’m 56 now)

I will admit that one time while hunting, I had a NEGLIGENT discharge. Thankfully, even though I inadvertently had my finger on trigger, muzzle was pointing in a safe direction and no injury occurred.

I have NEVER had an “ACCIDENTAL” discharge where the gun decided to fire on its own.

Ol’ Alec is full of it.

Baldwin's attorney told him to say that. So that gives them another avenue. Old gun anything could happen. Yah right

He is actually playing on the publics ignorance by stating that. Just more fuel for the anti-gunners now saying a gun fired all by itself. I hope the NRA, etc tear him apart over this.

When I was younger I practiced with air guns in my home basement range. I hung a steel dog leash from the ceiling with a mattress for my backstop. I practiced for hours and would try to hit the tiny target from 50’ away. It was way better that a .22 with a spinning target. When I hit that leash it jumped and swung. Then I would hit it when it swung. I might set up another air range soon with the cost of ammo.
