hi,

290 DA is plugged in to 110v plug. The AC panel is only reading 70v... is this normal? I have never plugged to the house before. On marina power it is always 110v indicated.
The batteries are all fully charged (from battery charger not boat charger), all three at 12.6 - 12.7... c-charger is indicating at about 18v (ie charging). Again, is this normal?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Jim

Jim,

What kind of extension cord are you using to go from the boat to a residential 110v outlet and how long is it?

I would start by checking the voltage on the end of the cord with a voltmeter and then plug it back into the boat and make sure no breakers are switched on. The panel should read the same as the voltmeter as long is there is no load and the polarity is correct.

A normal boat power load can easily create a very serious hazard with a household (14 or 16 gauge) extension cord.

I am plugged in with my 50' shore power cord with a 110 pigtail adapter... will check the readings you suggest in the morning. Thanks.

Hi,
Neglected to finish up this thread...

I did the readings and everything was 110 to the boat. We put her in the water and plugged her into 30A shore power and voila... 110 indicated on the AC meter. I don't know why the difference when plugged in at the shop.

You probably should check the voltage at the outlet you were plugged into at your shop. Sounds like you may have some voltage drop to your shop.
