2 Day trip from Columbus, GA to Bagby State park on Lake Eufaula or as some call it "Walter F George" lake. Had 12-14 boats from 185? I think was the smallest to 260SD. The first 15 or so miles from Columbus is pretty narrow really get the feel of the river. Then you get into the Live oaks with the Spanish moss on them. When you get down to the lakes some nice wide open area maybe a mile+ or so. If they ever get water down to FL again would like to do the whole system Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River System "ACF" system all the way down to the gulf. ACF Inland Waterway is over 300 miles.

Did anybody notice what happens when you get outside of the marked channel to the Tug?

Great shots. Thanks for posting them again.
You're welcome. I'm working on a site that I can post the trip pictures to. I've just started should have some up tonight.

I guess I screwed up again. This should really be in the SouthEast GA/FL or the Gulf/panhandle section????

I Know, I Know  I told you I get in trouble every time I start thinking  Just not sure where it should go???
1. Mid States - Inland Rivers -Yes
2. Southeast - GA/FL -Yes
3. Gulf/FL Panhandle -Yes

Maybe should be in each section, Just Kidding guys.

Thanks for all your help. Please slap me if I start thinking again :smt043 :smt043

Hey Richard any idea how the water levels are on the river? I'm thinking about making a run down it all the way to the Gulf. Any local info would be a great help.

Columbus to Apalachacola?....That would be a ride.

Do search on corp of eng and chattahoocee and you will get water levels. I know last time I checked Eufaula was down 8 ft. Won't effect you if you stay in channel. However I have never been below Seminole on the Apalachacola via boat. There are no gas stops at all and right now the river is very low. Channel is marked but I see a lot of rocks when I cross over at Blountstown bridge. I don't think I would risk it without some local info. Let me see what I can find out and I will pass it on to you. :smt024

Richard,

Thanks for the info. Yes the last one is great. Only thing I'm not sure about it when they give a 2'+- Reading that has to be outside of the 8' channel???? Doesn't it???

It don't say and I for one would not chance it with out talking to someone local. If I get away early enough on Friday I will stop in Blountstown and ask at the local fishy supply store. I am sure some john boat driver will have the answer.

Talked with the CORE about the channel. Looks like it will be a while. Said they have not dredged the channel since 01. Said at this this time their 26' outboard boats would not make it through due to shoaling. Said maybe in the early spring when the river is reading 10+ at Blountstown would be the best time.

Be very careful, if that river is reading 10 ft in the spring there is a lot of other stuff in the water, logs and junk. :smt009

Corps won't do anything because the took down the inland waterway certification. No money in the budget to get it done. :smt089
