Can you use a shoot thru the hull transducer on a 2000 sea ray 230br? the original lowrance 3500 stopped working and is no longer serviced by anyone. The original transducer goes thru a 1.5 inch hole in the bottom and most other transducers are 2" in diameter?

I also have the 3500C and can not get it repaired. (GPS Module not working) Lowrance did offer me a $200 coupon for a new HDS system.....

I am also interested in the answer to your transducer question.

Sure you can. You need to find a spot in the bilge (near centerline is best) to put it. It needs to have solid fiberglass (no coring) but I don't think that's an issue with your boat. Generally when you install one of these you test the location first using a bag of water. Most of the transducers are made by Airmar. Go to their website and you'll find detailed installation instructions and a wealth of other info.

i wasnt sure because sea ray uses a liner in the bilge area and if there are any air gaps between the liner and hull the transducer wouldnt work. I called airmar they are not sure if sea ray is a solid hull. i called sea ray and they mentioned the liner as a possible interference. Has anyone installed one and found that it works perfectly anyway?
