So somehow my starboard side windshield completly shattered on Sat - not sure what happened, but not cool. It's that Taylor Made full curved glass. I've been seeing what appears that Taylor Made will only sell the entire boat windshield. But why can't just the glass be replaced or at least just the glass/frame from the one side..

Wondering how much it costs too - I've already started a claim on insurance as I'm sure it's going to be costly.

So update - I got ahold of Taylor Made about the glass. Found the part number for the starboard side and sent to them. They checked and said that they have just the replacement glass, so I don't have to buy the entire windshield, frame etc...!!! Price was not bad - 680 and change, plus shipping from Indiana plant....

If it is indeed the correct one, Don’t hesitate. But it right away.

They are very hard to find, and making a new one takes considerable time if it’s not in stock.

So ya - I lucked out.. They only have 2 of those windshields made and in stock in Indiana !! I just got one of them, shipping was just over 400 (expected)... now to get it installed somewhere local in a couple weeks when it shows up...

btw, Taylor Made Products is actually owned by Lippert! go figure... if any of you know the RV world, Lippert owns that one...

I already give enough to Lippert for my 35’ fifth wheel. I hope that I don’t have to give them more!

Maybe should have!!! but praying I don't need another one!

New Update - so Taylor Made (Lippert) sent the wrong glass - they sent this little quarter piece - don't think they realized the entire starboard windshiled is one long curved piece, not a 2 piece like it seems a lot are made... Trying to get ahold of them now to figure out what to do...ugh..

Well, while waiting for Lippert, got ahold of Ocean Dynamics in Miami - looks like they can actually make the glass, will see what they come back with as I'm not too sure Lippert/Taylor Made is gonna come thru for me - 16 yr old boat makes me a little nervous.. Now I just hope they let me send this glass back to them for a full refund...

Isn't all of this something your insurance company should be taking care of for you?

you would think - but they are just letting me find the glass and whoever I want to repair it - send them receipts and they will reimburse... It's Boat US - who knows, never dealt with them before..

Well, just to keep the Sea Ray audience up to date - Taylor Made got back with me - they accidentaly boxed and sent the wrong glass for my boat - they realize it's a giant large single piece and will send for free - but they have to actually make one, 4-6 weeks!! no prob as it's costing me nothing over what I already paid and they said to junk the one I have - so anyone need a small front quarter class for a Sea Ray! :)

I'd find out what the root cause of the break was and correct that before installing that expensive hard to get new one.
