Hi Guys.
I think my shaft packing has reached the end of its life Span. I cannot tighten the Bronze packing Nut Enough to prevent a steady drip of water. My question is from what I have read from previous posts is it safe to repack while In the water and should just install one ring for now, then after haul out repack all.
Cheers Rob

I repacked them on my 370 Express with twin 7.4s while it was in the water using flax rope and Teflon grease. Got us through the summer and then we replaced the packing glands with dripless shafts.

I've had no issues doing mine in the water. I put two wraps in during the last of the season and compressed them. Then in Spring I added the third

Thanks guys I will give a shot!

When you on the hard and repacking the shaft logs.
I’d recommend GFO shaft packing.
Been great for me..

Just make sure your bilge pumps are working before you start.
