Good job guys. You're on the last stretch so take a moment to look around and get the full experience of what you've been through. What marina are you headed to?

Nice runs guys. It is great to see these long journeys on boats in the 40 - 50 ft size range. It takes alot of experience, and some guts to do this in your waters.

In the 80's i was on an oil tanker as a cadet running between SF and LA in the winter, and we took some beatings out there only 20 miles or so from the coast.

We have our weather down here periodically in so-cal, but it takes on a whole new dimension when you get above PT Conception.

GFC, nice video of the bar.

I agree, lots of guts, but don't forget money. This is the smallest Sea Ray that has done the trip that I (and EVERYONE) I spoke with knows of. Pretty awesome teip I must say. No boat issues whatsoever. The only broken item was a $3 bracket for my cruisair control panel. We will average 12.3 knots for the 946 miles.

I've been following your posts we'll be driving by Duwamish tomorrow going to my Moms from the pic it looks like your only a couple miles away from docking. There's a lot of good restaurants you can dock at all within walking distance go over to Bell Harbor or Elliott Bay Marina. Great posts how long you staying up here?

We will be up here for at least two years. Next summer will be in the San Juan's and then Canada is not too far away.....we will see, right now I have my boat set up to cruise one of the best places in the world.

The journey was amazing.

Here is a brief photolog of the journey:

Ready to go:

Leaving SF Bay

Pt Bonita (also known as the "Potato Patch":

Bodega Bay:

Saw this one on the way in to Eureka:

They were heading south to Cabo San Lucas from Seattle. Their fuel burn at cruise is 105 gallons per hour. Ouch

The wharf at Eureka (set up for boats just a tad larger)

Saw this guy:

We were actually in radio contact with Tom (Akbassking) from the Golden Gate to Newport Oregon.

Crescent City: (note the "camel": aka tires for the "dock")

Sunset NW of Brookings Oregon:

Sunrise in Coos Bay Oregon (waiting for the fuel dock to open)

Most of the "important" markers on the Coast are Racon Beacons:

Coming into Newport Oregon due to weather. Not the best picture, I was running the boat, but those are 8' swells at 9 seconds breaking over the jetty.

This 50' Riviera left San Francisco two hours after we did:

(Note: we were able to watch them on the GPS with the AIS on, they cruised 23 knots at night, we cruised 8 knots from dusk to dawn for safety)

Stuck in Newport Oregon due to weather. (I did really like "Deadman Ale" at the brewery)

Leaving Newport (yes, this was "better" weather)

A milestone in my life (crossing the Columbia River Bar):

The three of us left SF on the same day within 5 hours of each other. We were all in Newport Or due to weather.

Fuel in Westport, Gray's Harbor Wa

Sunset in Westport, Gray's Harbor Wa:

Puget Sound:

Seattle

Finally, in my slip:

The only broken item on the entire boat was this AC control mounting bracket (this is the replacement that was ordered enroute and on my desk upon my return home). There were zero mechanical issues, no loose bolts, no clogged filters, no belts to mess with, nothing. I have a huge selection of spares now! The best compliment I have ever received: "It was a pleasure bringing your boat to Seattle. We rarely find vessels in near perfect condition, all systems working as expetred, and an owner that appreciates our conservative approach to coastal voyages."....Pat Carson

One of the best photos I have taken of my boat:

Nicely done, my friend, nicely done.

Now, if you run into those naysayers who say a person can't run a 40' boat uphill from SF to SEA, you can just sit back and smile to yourself.

Wow when we went in to Newport, it was nice and smooth, but the weather caught up to us south of Talamook Head..... Thanks for the help and I will always be CSR at heart.

Tom, yeah the weather turned south in a hurry. You and Kay impressed us over on my boat. Hand steering? Seriously! Helluva way to make your first overnight, seasick and all. Anytime you're in the neighborhood, stop by for a cold one.
