I've seen a few posts about the lifting eyes at the bow and stern and I wondered if those eyes are routinely used to lift and store boats or are they too marginal for regular use. The local marina uses frames to support larger boats from underneath and I've seen many smaller boats supported by cables attached to lifting eyes but I haven't seen any larger boats suspended in their slip by the lifting eyes. Since my 19 ft Seville is a lot heavier than the smaller boats and lighter than the larger boats I don't have a reliable model. I would think slings would be less likely to fail but I need to figure out how to install slings in my boathouse (very shallow). Also, with slings I will need to determine the center of gravity for the boat for even loading. Surely some of you have been through this and can share your experience - please...
