Hello All,

Previous Express Cruiser had two huge swing out lockers built into the transom for lines, and a huge lazarette in the cockpit floor for fenders, spare anchor, water hose for transient dock, and lots of other "STUFF" that we carry onboard for our various activities.

We also kept a small air compressor and a Weber Baby Q grill on board, which we plan to eventually post mount on the swim platform.

The Dancers have a good deal of storage space under the cockpit cushions, and then there's the "trunk" with the straps for lines, etc.

In transferring some gear I found the classic MILK CARTON box (great for water hose) would not fit in the trunk all the way

Can anyone please share how they have set up their boat for lines, fenders, spare anchor, BBQ's spare anchor and all the STUFF ?

I'd bet someone has better ideas than I do.

Best !

A fender, or two will fit in the anchor locker on the bow. Dinghy motor fits under one of my cockpit cushions.

Oh my,

I forgot about the dink, outboard and all THAT jazz . . .

Not specific to a Dancer, but a shift I made with storing the hose.

I started using the collapsible hose for my washdown, available from a lot of sources. May not last for ever but I love the ease of getting it out and putting it away.

Collapsed I store in a heavy fabric bag that has handles. Think in terms of one that you would take to the grocery store to bring groceries home. The fabric lets it breath with any moisture that may remain in the hose. Soft sided, will fit anywhere. Take it out of storage and throw it on the dock, or throw it back on the boat.

Super easy and fast, yet some degree of organization.

I have a 50’ collapsible hose and just keep it in the bucket. Biggest improvement I made in the trunk is getting a smaller bucket that has flat sides…that added a lot of room…. All line are held by straps on back wall, 4 big fenders are up in the anchor locker…so basically barbecue, bucket, power cords, small basket with random stuff, boat brush and hook is in there

I love these hoses, but I only get a year out of them. One suggestion, don't leave them screwed in. The ones I have, use aluminum which doesn't take long to become one with brass.

The biggest upgrade I've made to my transom locker was to switch to a 10' hose with quick disconnect and two 15' shore power cables. This both de-clutters the locker but also takes some of the PITA factor out of pushing off the dock for the day. I never disconnect them from inside the locker and they only take two seconds to roll up.

I also love the collapsible hoses. I have three of 50' rigs. I keep one at the dock always hooked up, one in the transom locker and one at the anchor washdown. Those things are ideal for boating...

I hang all of my electrical adapters from the straps inside the locker. I keep my lines stored behind my cockpit fold-out step.

That's what dingy davits for are for....

Dink is a 10' Achilles hard air floor model with a 2.5hp Suzuki for power.

It can transport rolled up under the transom seat or ride on the swim platform when inflated.

I just removed the 1500 lb electric davit system that came with the boat :)

How does one secure the fenders in the anchor locker so they don't interfere with anchor/rode/windlass operation?

I imagine the anchor locker is more spacious on a 460 but I don't see how I could store anything in my anchor locker without it getting mangled by the chain.

I find that having a dink that rolls up and stows in a serious impediment to actually using it. My inlaws have very similar setup and the same motor; they never use it. I guess it depends on each boater's use case.

Mine looks more like this, with a divider that facilitates fender storage. Not sure how a 460 DA is configured.

No you are spot on. So many folks start out thinking they will roll it up when not in use, but in reality it is a huge pain in the arse! I went through the same learning process. Within my first season owning a roll up dink, I rolled it up once for a long trip and that was the last time I deflated it during the season.

Yep. That's why I upgraded to a RIB with a manual davit on the platform. It gets WAY more use that way, and has a really good ride to boot. My kids use it most every time we go out. I balk a bit at inflating swimming tubes; no way I'm hauling out and then stowing an inflatable boat on a regular basis.

I believe the 450 EB and the 450/460 DA have the same or similar layout sharing the same hull. The "trunk" (I thought it was the lazarette) on my boat stores the hose, a couple of rafts, the battery and fuel can for my dinghy along with a 5 gallon bucket that I use to store the winch for the dinghy, zip ties and some gloves. The 4 or 5 factory straps hold three boat poles/hooks for docking. I can also store two of the larger midship fenders in there (when the dinghy battery and fuel can are out), but it is tight. I store the two smaller aft fenders under the cockpit couch. My Traeger Ranger grill will not fit in the lazarette. I agree with the notion that you will not like inflating and deflating your dinghy every time out. I have a Weaver davit system with the tilting engine mount. It's not the prettiest set up, but it works good.

Lazarette/Trunk = port to starboard: power adaptors, 30amp cords, cleaning supplies, fuel additives, collapsible bucket, brush on a stick, squeegee on a stick, and some towels. Mini milk crates fit...
