Seeking Opinions on 210 SLX

I looked into perfect pass and its pricey. I think a good driver goes a long way towards a happy skier.

Congratulations on the new boat. Did you trade the 190 or are you selling it on the open market?

Actually, I don't think I can get Perfect Pass installed, it's not compatible with Mercruiser's "DTS" (Digital Throttle ... Something) on the 350MAG/B3 combo. Mercruiser has SmartTow for DTS engines, but I haven't looked into getting it installed at this point. Might not even be possible as an aftermarket/post production modification, but not a big concern for me at the moment. We shall see! Hopefully, this HOG OF A BOAT (Ha!) and the powertrain (is that what you call it in boats?) will keep people from slowing me down as they cross the wake? About the 190, I am doing a trade, because it's stored up at the reservoir and trying to sell it would be tough as it's almost 3 hours away. Also, I want my storage garage ready to go when the 230 arrives! :) They will bring the 230 up, and take the 190 away.

Selected my stereo upgrades today!

I've decided to go with JL Audio for the speakers (cockpit and subwoofer, all "MX Series") and amplifier. Oh, and the speakers are "Titanium Gray". As someone who's so OCD about selecting colors and crap like that, I couldn't leave that bit of CRUCIAL info out. Ha!

Signed the purchase order today, lined up the financial end of things, got a ton of new photos from Sun Country Marine to make sure I'm comfortable with pulling the trigger from afar (they've been *great* to work with long distance!)....and am getting more and more excited!

Thanks so much to those who have chimed in with their advice and opinions, and humored me in my analysis-paralysis decision making process!

:)

real nice Clark, real nice. Here's a pic of her twin:

I didn't get the wakeboard racks on mine and really wish I did. I'm going to order some before boating season starts, but the price I got for the factory ones from my dealer was outrageous...something like $900 each.

I think the pad on the swim platform is a great option too. Mine does not have that and I wish it did. You're going to love this boat. Congrats!

Separated at birth!

:)

I got the 190 all prepped for pickup yesterday. As corny as it will sound, I got a little bummed out. No regrets, but bummed. Here's the *really* corny part - I hope whoever ends up buying her is on (or discovers) this message board so I can keep up on how it's doing!

Thanks! Water level rose about 30' in February, but in all likelihood this will be a short season for us unless March and April are extremely wet. Waiting until next year would have driven me nuts (more than I already am!) and at least I can tinker and futz on it, right? :)

Congrats. I really like the styling on these new SLX boats. Great to read about your choices and the details. Keep the pictures flowing.

Yeah, my interior definitely looks to be darker than yours. Not sure what the color name of mine is though.

I'm pretty sure yours was/is called "KOPI" in Sea Ray interior color-ese.

MBW, I will certainly upload pics on Saturday when she's delivered! I really like the gray color of your boat!

:)

Thanks. I love the newer color options and interior style you picked. For a 2005 with lots of hours, I think mine has held up well. Owning a brand new one must be fantastic. I have the 350 mag with bravo 3 and bennett trim tabs, (no digital throttle or anything that nice though). Not sure how the weight compares. My 240 actually measures about 26' with the swim platform. 57 gal fuel tank. They new layouts look very nice though. Here is what my 2005 looks like. (For the eagle eyed, I am missing a wood trim part on my glove box thing. Haven't been able to find a replacement yet.)

Well, the walk-thru might be nice on the new/current model, but .... look at all that passenger bench seat space, baby!!!

:)

So, we saw a LOT more ~2005ish Sundecks and they do have the walkthroughs. I can see why that is nice for boarding from the swim platform and you do risk messing up that cushion. In reality, its not really a big deal. If you are a bit careful with the cushion and clean it, it holds up pretty well. The sprayer on the transom takes care of the sandy dirty feet. The extra seating is nice. I like that it is symmetrical and that the sun pad is big. The walkthroughs that have the tilt up sun pad walkthrough are really nice though because it acts like a back rest.

The sundecks also have the front step up and walk area for front boarding with a ladder. I dont care for the style of the sundeck though. The front should be pointy!. I like the rear facing seat at the front. The wide beam in front is just odd looking to me. Plus I dont like the huge door for the head on the sundecks. I dont want half the console taken up with a big door.

SLX/Select/Sport is the best looking in my opinion.

Are you going to add jl tower speakers to the boat?

No plans to do it at this time. I am keeping the (standard) Sony head unit, as well as the (standard) helm remote and (optional) transom remote. The upgrades are all JL Audio - four MX650 cockpit speakers, a matching MX10IB3 10" subwoofer, and the MHD900/5 amplifier. I believe the amp is 100W x 4 plus 500W x 1.

Here's the cockpit speaker:
