Greetings, all,
After thoroughly searching the forums regarding transducers, I ended perhaps more confused than before I started searching Lots of info on this topic!
I have a through-hull transducer on my 2007 DA 310, which is only providing depth information and, I believe water temperature to the Smartcraft unit at the helm. The transducer does not pass any information to the Raymarine C80 that was installed in the boat when I bought it.
I am planning to replace the electronics (likely going to a Garmin 7610XSV with a Garmin 18" HD Radome). I'm going to need a new transducer to send information to the new Garmin unit, and I was wondering if anyone with a 2007 310 Dancer has had any experience with an in-hull or transom mounted transducer vs. a thru-hull? It also sounds like I'm going to have to disable the current transducer to avoid interference issues. I am not really going to fish on this boat (if I do, it'll be casual/basic sonar fishing). I also don't anticipate being in thousands of feet of water (at least not on purpose
Having said that, an In-Hull transducer is what I'm currently shopping for. Anyone have any experience on the accuracy of these units as it pertains to depth/water temp/sonor using a 250 - 500 Watt In Hull transducer?
I was also looking for anyone's experience installing a Garmin 7610 XSV into the dash of a 2007 Dancer 310 and how the fit was, etc.
Thank you. These forums have been a wellspring of information so far.
