Headed to Seattle next month. My daughter has to have a medical procedure in the Cherry Hill area. Any recommendations where to stay? The hospital told her not to stay too near the hospital because of the drug seekers...

We've stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott a couple of times.
We also stayed at the Courtyard by Marriot close by. They're both at the south end of Lake Union with great views of Lake Union.
We haven't been there for about three years, so I'm not sure what the homeless situation is like, but they both have parking garages.
We liked the Courtyard a little better, but the Residence Inn was closer to the boat show we went for, plus Daniel's Broiler is right across the street, and it has pretty good food.
Make sure you look at the Lake Union one's because they also have other close locations.

There's also the Edgewater, it's right on the Puget Sound waterfront.
There's a picture somewhere of one if the Beatles fishing from the room's window.
I'm not sure how close it is to Cherry Hill area though, and it's location just might be overrun with homeless, but I really don't know.
We stayed there several years ago, it was cool.
Their parking is outside, so that's questionable.
Love the view though.

The South Lake Union suggestions are great... The Seattle waterfront Bell Harbor Marina has a Marriot across the street with secure underground parking. My wife works in downtown Seattle and it's far from perfect, but with the cruise ship season in full swing and a new Mayor that is doing homeless camp sweeps, it's making a difference. I stayed at a newer Hyatt right across the street from the Space Needle last fall for an Eagles concert and it was great, secure garage, etc.

Spike, I just got off the phone with my daughter who has lived in Seattle for 26 years. She recommended you stay downtown. It's close to Cherry Hill. If you want more specific recommendations let me know and I'll get back to her.

Also, DO NOT take the light rail that runs from the airport towards downtown. It just is not safe anymore.

Geez, we flew to Seattle a few years ago, stayed a few days then took a rented car to Vancouver. We didn't see anything out of the norm, we live in a city and are used to the homeless folks. Sounds like things have changed though.

Has it ever. I have no desire to go back anytime soon.
Homeless camps set up anywhere and everywhere you can imagine.
Our governor keeps taking more money from the taxpayers for the homeless, so it brings more in.
We're even getting a lot on the east side of the state, which we haven't had in the past.

I had never been to Seattle until this Winter when I had a layover on my way to MX. What a beautiful city from the sky. Too bad it's being ruined.
