Hello all!

Well, I just leased a slip in Lake Washington, and bought a 260DA - which should arrive here in the next few weeks.

I'm wondering if some of the nice folks on here can recommend the good spots that I can boat to for lunch or dinner!
(The $100 hamburger)

I apologize in advance if a similar post already exists :smt001

Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome! My wife and I moved here about six months ago and Kirkland comes to mind. You can tie up at the pubic dock, walk into town where there are lots of choices for lunch/dinner etc...

Thanks Mark!

I was actually reading your posts on another thread earlier tonight - when you were deciding on moorage for your boat.
I hope you've settled in nicely, and hope to meet you out there sometime!

I think the best two boat-to places in town are Ivar's Salmon House restaurant and Ray's Boat House. Ivar's is on the north side of Lake Union, immediately west of the I-5 bridge. Ray's Boat House may not have its own dock, but there's one immediately to the south of it that you likely could use while you walk next door for dinner. It's located just outside and around the corner from the Ballard Locks.

I've had dinner at Ray's Boat House before, and never actually thought about boating to it!
Great ideas - thank you!

Now, I just need my boat to get here...

Have to agree with that, used to walk to some lovely restaurants near the Kirkland public dock when we lived there. Wherever you go, enjoy!

For some inexpensive fast-food dining fun, take your boat to the very southern end of Lake Washington to Coulon Park where you'll find a public park, Ivars and a Kidd Valley hamburger joint. Plenty of public, no-fee dock space. The only downside to the park is their no-dogs policy. Be aware of your wake. Police are there every sunny summer day handing out tickets to inconsiderate yahoos.

Sadly there's no direct dock space for Ray's. And, if you're on the Lake it would require locking through. Fun, but tough if you're hungry and the locks are busy.

Another option if your credit card has room on it - Chandler's Restaurant at Chandler's cover at the South end of Lake union East of the MOHAI and Center for wooden boats. Free dock space while your dining but sometimes hard to come by on beautiful summer evenings. Great place to celebrate.

Congrats on the new boat!

Thanks dgeller! Just found out my boat will be arriving on Sunday. The ramp at my marina will be closed, so we're going to try launching off of the trailer in Lake Washington. Any recommendations on boat launches that would be better for a 28 foot boat?

Ray's is out on the Sound. I'm not sure if they have a dock again for water traffic.
My bride and I really liked Duke's Chowderhouse on Lake Union. They have a nice dock right out front. As mentioned Ivar's salmon house has a dock too and will allow you to choose from either a nice dine in dinner, or from their Fish bar, grab some fish and chips and sit back on the boat to enjoy.

Hey Todd, I tried responding to your PM the other day - but your mailbox is full.
I just had lunch at Duke's 2 days ago - love that place!
Looking forward to pulling up in the boat :)

A couple more options (all of the above are good!). Daniels Broiler at Leschi Park on the west side of Lake Washington. There is a marina there with free moorage for a couple of hours. Fishermans Terminal at the Ballard Bridge also has free moorage for a few hours and several restaurants close by.

Thanks La Maddalena,

Sounds like a great location.
BTW - beautiful boat!

Thanks all for the great ideas.
I'm enjoying this forum very much already.
I hope to meet some of you out there!

Don't forget the public dock in Ballard. It's next to the old Yankee Diner, and you can walk right to Market Street. Lots of stuff there.

Also: Beachhouse Café in Houghton (between Kirkland and Carillon Point) has their own dock. Great place.

You guys are making me hungry. I lived there in the mid 90's (pre boat and pre-children) and Rays, Ivar's and Chandlers were 3 of my favorite places! I often think of what it would be like to boat out there....only used the ferries back then!
