2003 Sea Ray Sundeck with two captain chairs. Captains chair works fine and I learned how to use the controls under the seat to (1) get the seat to swivel and (2) get the seat to slide back and forth.

But the passenger side seat ... while I can get it to slide back and forth, I cannot get it to swivel.

If you are in the seat, on the right hand side there is a flip switch that allows the driver seat to swivel, but when I flip it on the passenger seat, while the switch moves positions just fine, the seat will not swivel.

any help would be great!!!

I just got this boat and my dealer is 1.5hrs away.

Thanks again for any help!!!

Did you loosen the tensioning knob?

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I saw that and I did loosened the tension knob. I flipped up the bolster. I tried it with the seat slid back, forward and middle. And I was able to easily swivel the captains chair with the same controls. I'm guessing it has to the with the flip lever. That while I flip it to disengage the lock on the swivel, the actual lock does not disengage, even with the lever flipped. It is stuck ... I think? I was hopping this was a problem that has come across before and that maybe there was a DIY fix or some pointers if I try to disassemble the base

Sounds like you're on the right track.

Loosen the tension knob a good amount, then you should be able to lift the entire seat up and off the post. That'll give you a better look at what's going on.

LazeDaze ... thanks for the recommendation. I will do that this weekend. I will loosen the tension knob and life the entire seat and bottom bracket off the 5" circular post. Maybe then I will see if there is a sticking part inside the locking mechanism. I will do it this weekend. If anyone has any pointers or recommendations for doing this ... I'd welcome any advise.

If I can fix it ... I will post a thread with pics showing how the repair was made.

Thanks again,

Make sure you have a rag or cloth you do not care about for when you get the seat off the post it will have some grease or fine metal ware particles that are a real pain to get off white fiber glass.

So I tried your recommendation and it wouldn't budge. I loosed the tension knob all the way I tried with all my might to pull the entire seat off to get a closer look and it would move? Any other recommendations? I dont need to take off the seat, but Im just trying to get the swivel function to work again? Thanks again for all the help!

Post a couple pics of what you got.

Does it turn a degree or two... or absolutely, positively not at all?

It does sound like your initial thought of the flip switch being broken is valid. Try this: Remove the captain's chair and take a good look at things and how they are supposed to work. That'll give you a better idea of what's going on with the passenger's side.

Lazy Daze, thanks for the response. NO, it wont even move a few degrees. Thanks for the recommendation on the comparing the captains seat vs the passengers. I had done that from a controls perspective just to make sure I was working the knobs correctly, but I have not removed the captains seat yet to examine the internal working components. I will try to get some pics over the weekend and post. Thanks again to everyone for the recommendations.
