Looking at the figures most of you guys pay for 6 months, our figures 'Down Under' are pretty well on a par, as ours are for 12 months

That's really not quite accurate, right? I mean, you did have to buy the slip. To be fair, and meaningful, you should take the price you paid, and divide it by the number of years that you expect to benefit from it, and then report back...I suppose we can allow what you intend to sell it for when the day comes as a refund.

Seriously, though, it would be nice info to know, for those of us who often wonder if it would be better to buy a slip (albeit with maintenance fees around here) versus seasonal rental.

Yep the up front costs hurt. I paid more than I wanted too for the dock, but Washington and Oregon are not allowing any new docks on the lower Columbia. This dock came up for sale and we paid the asking price as there were 4 other people behind us willing to pay more. I put about 6K in rebuilding the dock for the new boat, but we plan to move aboard next year. I am making additional upgrades, so we have storage.

Here is a better pic of both boats on the dock. I still have to pay annual real estate taxes, water and electric.

Scott, just as a FYI: my marina is a dockominium , the slips sold in the 80's for around $8000 for a 35' slip now they are worth $50,000 and that's not with a Bay view. I am of course just a renter so I pay the taxes, fees for the owner I'm sure

Seasonal Floating Dock (45'): $5,500 (April 1 - Nov 1)
Electricity: $250/year
Weekly Pump-Out done right at my slip: $14/pump-out
Cable and WiFi are free of charge, but when you are paying $5,500 a season, I hardly call anything "free!"
Monthly Membership Dues: $250, plus anything else you buy (cash-less system)

We pay a lot and are probably among the "poorer" folks at our club, but we absolutely love the place and what it offers our family. Every year, we struggle with the decision of staying members because of all the money we spend on food, drinks, and activities, but each year we pony-up. If God takes me tomorrow, at least I'll know we had a great time boating with the family!
