Just received our SeaRay Living magazine and to my surprise our lake is on the front cover. The lake is really a reservoir that was built by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in the 1960's. Lake Monroe is located in the southern half of Indiana and just down the street from Bloomington Indiana, home of Indiana University.

This picture must be from 2006 because the rope swing was cut down this year by the DNR. Over the years the DNR would cut the rope swing down and someone would put it back up. This year they cut the rope and the tree. The are no more good candidate trees to put a rope on.

The area in the picture is called Allen's Creek. This is Lake Monroe's party cove. I do not go in the cove often because it is too hot. There typically is no breeze and it can get stifling hot in the cove.

I had no idea we had a member on here from Bloomington. Monroe is about the only lake we boat at....we should get together sometime.

That's ridiculous that the DNR cut down that rope, and tree! I stared at that picture for quite awhile thinking how great that photo looked and how awesome that rope swing looked. I assume it was due to liability or something, what a shame.
Gorgeous lake you have there!

First time on that rope swing was in 1976 for the bicentennial. 7 guys, 2 ski boats, 9 cases of beer and thousands of firecrackers camping out for 5 nights.

Yes, liability is the issue. Too many idiots would fall and go to the hospital. The lake is owned by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers.

My second boat was a 1995 Sea Ray 175. Loved that boat but needed something bigger to get may fat a.. up on one ski. The 175 could do it but it wore me out, the 3.0L was too small.

My slip is J 103, stop by any time. We are usually there on Sunday's and one day during the week. I wil be changing to another slip next year, J dock is way too long a walk for us and a 3 year old. Will be going down this week if it is not raining.

If you are not familiar with the Four Winds docks we are on the long dock over looking the lake. J 103 is one of the last slips on the south side.

To those of you who are not familiar with this lake and marina. The Four Winds Marina is supposed to be the 5th largest inland marina in the U.S. We have 812 slips and as of April 30th 2007 there were only 5 available.

Lake Monroe is the largest man-made lake in Indiana. It is small compared to most of your lakes. The main lake is really 1 mile wide by 10/12 miles long with an average depth of 25 feet. The rest of the lake is no-wake zone and only 2 to 8 feet deep.

You can google it at Latitude: 39 0' 53.8"N
Longitude 86 28' 42.4"W

Yeah man....cool! I'm told that they have a picture of my family in there from a Getaways! thing. Looking forward to checking it out!

We will have to for sure stop by, we are looking at upgrading to a 220 BR or Select as soon as I find the right one. I just PM'd you my cell #...will you be out anymore this year?

So we got the recent mag and was happy to see a picture of my boat (the bow anyway) and two of my kids! Pretty cool of my salesman to submit it!

Hey Mr. Happy we were down at Monroe today.....saw your boat at Four Winds after we left Allens Creek. Shoot me a PM or give me a ring...my #'s in your PM inbox....

Hey firecadet.

Sorry did not see you. I PM'd you today. First time I have done this so I do not know if I did send the PM or not. Let me know.

Sorry will call you some other time. We were at the lake this weekend for a camping trip at Paynetown. It was kind of a somber weekend though. One of my best friends died Thursday evening, usually he would have been with us camping. He was only 48.
