Searay bashing?

This is our fourth SR in 25 yrs... Every SR I have owned has treated me very well and I have treated every SR with care and proper maintanence

Good luck and happy boating!

Not entirely sure I agree with that. I worked at the BMW Plant in Spartanburg at the time the X5 began production and I recall them building this track for the X5.

I drove that track and the Z cars on the other track when we were there for the 8 Fest rally a few years ago. We have a picture of over 100 8 series cars in front of the plant.

We bought an X5 the next week after driving one on that track.

Here's what I think, I have own 1972 srv190 searay 4 year, 1986 fourwinns 190 horizon three years, 1987 fourwinns 211 liby four year, 1987 Power Play 230 conquest 8 years and 1990 270 sundancer for about 5 months now. I like the sea ray looks, trim over the other's I think, The sea ray fiberglass and build of boat, Four winns may or may not be better, but the Power Play (Powerquest) Is far better than the others. Power Play chould have used some better chusions in the cabin and swim deck. There are spots inside the sundancer were I wonder what the ####. But I do like my Sundancer, it's a sweet boat.

OK, I'm new here but not new to boating. I've been away from serious boating for several years now but I'm thinking about getting another small cruiser (34-37'). I've been looking at older sedans and have run across several nice Searays in my price range. From what I've seen, I'd certainly consider a SR but a lot of boating sites that I've visited have had plenty of SR bashing. I can't seem to get any specific issues but there seems to be a lot of people that look down on SR for some reason. I thought the best place to get a response would be from Searay owners so...what say you?

I say Sea Ray makes a very good boat and I have been extremely happy with mine.

You will not go wrong if you are wise enough to choose a well maintained model with both the features and design to suit your intended use.

Yeah, if you are going to cruise to the Antarctic maybe you should look at a Nordhavn. Serious tournament fishing should also lead you to somthing like a Cabo, Bertram, Hatteras or Viking.

Value, quality, availability of service/parts, design, performance and good resale are just a few reasons for the popularity of the brand.

There are those that will bash anything, especially anonymously. Before you buy, check some reputable and impartial sources. Have fun shopping.

Couldn't help but notice - but besides the chairs what is on your swim platform and the step up?

When i was younger both grandfathers had bayliners. One had a smaller one (bow rider) and the other had a larger crusing style. The bow rider is still running strong. I would say with anything you buy you can get trash or a real gem i believe that its the way you take care of it. What i have found is when i was buying my boat Searay it came with alot of upgrades that i was pricing out on the bayliner. The choice came down to if i bought the bayliner it was a special order so more time and money down and the searay was sitting right at the dealership.

Been boating off and on for close to 20 years. Owned a Larson that I really liked, a Glaspar that I kinda liked and a Bayliner Victoria project boat that I never got a chance to like or dislike.
I always admired the look and styling and construction of the Sea Rays that I came into contact with and bought my first one because I wanted the trailer it came on. Since then I came to really love everything about the Sea Ray and when it came time to move up from the 270 Sundancer I began an exhaustive search for a replacement. A search that only included Sea Ray's.
I am fond of the pre-95's with the rear leaning radar arch and that is good since that is the time frame where my budget is located. The good part is even Sea Ray's of this era are usually well maintained and cared for. I would be very pleased if this was the last boat I ever owned, but if there is another one out there in my future it will be a Sea Ray.
