Anyone explored ordering or ordered seacore on one of the sport boats? I emailed sea ray and they wrote back and said it would be possible. the only boat they list it on is the 300 slx but i figured it might be worthwhile on the 230 on up if it is going to be wetslipped as opposed to trailered.

I pursued it briefly before I got my (non-seacore) Sundeck 220. The impression I got talking to the dealer and I think a call to Mercury, was that it's very expensive and generally not cost justified on the smaller boats. I THINK it was going to add 3000 onto the price, maybe more. It seemed more geared towards the higher end stuff where another several grand is just kinda lost in the mix.

I did not do a ton of research though, as I was primarily interested in dealing on an "already in stock left over" that was going to be a better deal than a special order.

As an alternative, I discussed doing a fresh water conversion with my local mechanic - his recommendation was to leave it as is for now, and maybe invest in the fresh water conversion down the road when it's time to replace the stuff involved anyway.

In the end, I decided there are tons of non-seacore Mercruisers in my area, and they seem to do fine so the best course of action is to just get the standard engine and be diligent about maintenance/anodes/etc.

My boat will be moored in salt water from May to Sept, along with a bunch of others just like it that seem to do fine.

Disclaimer: I've used outboards my whole life - so I'm a complete newb in the I/O world.
