Sea Ray plant in Tennessee is for sale
Posted on May 07, 2010
Sea Ray's mothballed Riverview, Tenn., plant has been put up for sale for a reported $6.6 million.
The move does not affect the nearby Knoxville or Tellico plants, where the company recently reinstated 150 positions and integrated additional brands and models, Brunswick spokesman Dan Kubera told Soundings Trade Only.
"We believe we have sufficient capacity to meet current and anticipated demand, as the marine market gradually improves, with the plants currently online," Kubera said.
"We have been working hard to reduce fixed costs throughout our operations to be more competitive in the marketplace and eventually return to profitability," he added. "Part of these efforts have included consolidation of our manufacturing footprint. Disposing of such idle assets should provide long-term cost savings by further reducing our fixed-cost structure."
