Sea Ray SSS 1993 63 ft

Hello; I bought 1995 Sea Ray 630SSS out of Ft Lauderdale Florida and brought it to Cancun Mexico; I hope that you took the journey to Florida to actually see her or you may be in for a big surprise. Pictures always look better than the actual boat will look in person; at that age your props could need replacement if the zincs weren't changed out. Your rudders could be rotten as well; there are the shaft seals and strut bearings etc. What about the Genset and Condition of engines?

I did make the trip to florida and am thankful because I was able to determine the extent of neglect (that's what it is) and weigh the pro's and cons of fixing her. Today she is onc again enjoying the pampered life of Cancun and believe me when she pulls into port you will probably have a loss of breath for a moment because SeaRay made a mother of boat that commands respect in that model. With twin CAT 3412 pumping out 2100HP; she's not just a Yatch! She will pull up to 42knts and blow by most small sport cruisers even at 90,000lbs. If you didn't get a lemon then you will enjoy her. I took mine from Fort Lauderdale to Cuba the Cuba to Cancun Mexico for about 5,500.00 in fuel with 1/4 left on each side upon arrival.

Great story. Would love see pictures of your journey. You'll want to start a new thread though and put that in the subject line.

BTW, I know it seems daunting but reading this thread from start to finish will provide you with one of the most epic and entertaining life journeys that I've ever read on CSR. Rob did end up buying a boat, not the 63' though. His journey to Australia will having you laughing, cringing, and crying at the same time.

Cop is correct this should be a movie. It would instantly be one of my favorites!

oh, you guys are right! I'd watch it just for the scene of Rob pushing the mechanic into the canal. I can't imagine there's a boater in the country who hasn't had that fantasy.

SeaRay Corp would probably appreciate it La Caberet was missing some of her badging though...

Holy $#!+ what a story! I just stumbled apon this thread about a month ago. Went to page 1 and noticed it was 237 pages long. And very long pages at that! So I started to read and before I knew it I was hooked and just kept on reading. So a month later I finished! I literally just finished about a minute ago reading every word of every post (I haven't finished a book I'm my life other then 1) What a ride. You weren't kidding when u said it would make you laugh, cry, get your anxiety going and every other emotion a person can have!
ROB
you are completely outside your mind, crazy, gutsy, ballsy entertaining, enthusiastic, polite, mind bogling, stupid, smart, and I love every bit of it! You bought a monster of a vessel having no idea wtf your doing, no idea how to even start the motors and quickly learned to captain, and the most impressive part u learned to navigate completely blind with 20 year old electronics in only a short period of time! You my friend are very impressive! I wish and can only dream of having the experience you've had the part few years. The good the bad the fun the boring the exciting the nail bitting I want it all. (Just no cage accidents for me) BTW very sorry that happened. Just gut wrenching and horrible. But it aloud you to have the current life that you've loved the past few years! I really hope you pop your head in here once in a while so u get to read this. I know your posts have been far in between recently and now that I'm finished reading your saga I don't know what I'm going to do with myself on my free time while my boat is under repair from a recent mishap with a 12x12 by 9ft long railroad tie. (If your wondering the tie win the battle and laughed in my face for an hot while waiting for boat us to tow me home. Literally float next to for a solid hour and said to me hahaha ha I ruined your trip. Bastard) anyway I really hope all is well with you and cabaret. I hope her repairs are done and she looks better then ever! Hope your figuring out your finances so you can possibly keep her or do your sailing around the world. Come back soon and update us with repair pictures and what's currently going on in your adventure of a life!
I do have one request. Since I'm so envious of your adventure and your life style, if your ever in the new your city area you must let me take you out on my boat and show you around the waters here. I think it would be a very entertaining trip and would love to hear more about your very interesting life.
Again hope all is well and wish you the best in whatever you choose to do with your boat and your next adventure
Cheers!
John

Fun read wasn't it? At first he's called a fake and lurker and then he sets off on one of the most interesting journeys I've read. Polish it up and it'd make a great book. Especially if Rob ends up sailing off to the horizons on a blowboat.

Fun read? Way past that I had my fiancé yelling at me to get off the phone in bed because I didn't want to stop reading. If he buys a blow I'm making it a point to meet him when he's local. If he ever is

I just picked this up and can't stop reading it. I am on page 26 of 119, started last night at about 8pm... My fiancé lost it on me when I wouldn't put the phone down at midnight... lol, what a story.

Lol mine looked at me last night and says "what no 2 hours reading your phone tonight" (with a smart as a face ) and I said no the story is over. Author went missing for 6 months. (With this look on my face:smt089

Cheer's to you Mate! Yes please keep us posted on your progress and what's going on. I still think that your story should be some type of movie! I'd pay to go see it in the theaters.
