Found a 1996 Sea Rayder. Thought it might be fun to jet around on when the lake is calm. Anyone know anything about them? Pros? Cons? Cost?

I bought a 1995 F16 last summer and had a good time with it, it's not the fastest jet boat or the most economical but if you buy it right then the fun factor alone is worth it in my opinion.

Doesn't that boat have a sport jet 120 in it? Might have trouble getting parts. I guess if its running well and really clean.

It is a 120. Are you saying they don't make replacement parts anymore?

No, I didn't say that, just that merc hasn't made these sport jets for years. There are parts available but as time goes by there will be fewer parts available. You can find some new aftermarket parts and eBay, Craig's List and the like. There are some places rebuilding power heads also.

One of my friends up north on Lake Placid had BW Rage with a sport jet in it. He got rid of it because he was having ignition problems and trouble finding parts.

If it's clean and runs well it's probably fine. Having said that, many times people will run them on the trailer with no water going thru them and mess them up. I would not be satisfied with just a running motor. Make sure the jet is working by doing a sea trial.

Thanks Blaster. Bdefinitely will take it out and run it if I decide to go any further with this. It is over priced now so unless the owner comes down considerably running it won't be necessary.
