As you all know in the past year Sea Ray has significantly changed directions, and have recognized my heading in life has the compass pointed in a different direction. Therefore, between now and the end of the year I will be retiring from Sea Ray Boats. I will be leaving with sincere appreciation to the company for my 33-year tenure, which has allowed me to develop a passion for the brand, make friends throughout the industry and establish lasting relationships with the greatest boat owners on the planet.

What’s next? I am not retiring from the love of boating, and am considering and investigating several opportunities, among them creating new ways to help and advise Sea Ray Boat owners so they can enjoy their boats and yachts to the fullest. My signature may change, but my screen name will remain “Capt. Rusty Higgins” and I will be active here on clubsearay.com.

I wish everyone a blessed Christmas/Holiday Season, and certainly a prosperous New Year. You are the best and I am indebted to you all.

    With much respect and admiration,
    Rusty Higgins

Rusty I was lucky to have bought our first Sea Ray because without her I never would have met you. We are sad but happy for you as you get to keep on doing what you love, helping us all with our boating experiences.
Well now instead of introducing you as “this is capt Rusty form Sea Ray” I get to say this is Capt. Rusty my friend.
You truly have helped my family get to where we are now and we appreciate you.
Best of luck and Merry Christmas pal.

    Rusty,

Thank you for tirelessly helping thousands of us Sea Ray owners. Whether it was a major issue or just a part # request, you always made yourself available. It did not matter if we had a 1976 18ft cuddy or a 2018 650L we all felt equally important to you.

Sea Ray Boats lost its ambassador. Their loss is will be someone else’s gain. Whatever path you choose to take in the boating industry, you will be a success. Your unique personality, work ethic and high level of integrity cannot be matched.

Best of luck my friend. Thank you for all you have done for us.

What can I say that captures the time we have known you.

    Mentor, advisor, and good friend.

Your contribution to boating has been huge - and I have a feeling may even have more impact in the future.

You are knowledgeable, professional, and you "know your stuff".

Sea Ray's loss is our gain.

Welcome aboard life after SR... Just hang on to that hat, I think it will be a fun ride.

Capt. Rusty, while we never crossed paths in the times I've been in FL, I have always felt a kinship with you.

May you always have fair winds and calm seas wherever your course takes you in the future.

Cap'n. We have never crossed paths. Though we did get close...once. I have read you're posts and through them I consider you my friend.
Not going to say this didn't surprise me. Somehow I don't see you delivering wake boats.
I wish you all the best. And I know you will succeed in your future endeavors.
Fair seas and following winds... (and full throttles).

    Cap’n,

Congrats on your retirement! Thanks for everything you have done to “improve our boating.” If you ever make it up north to the Buckeye state, let us know and will spend some time on our Great Lake.

Cap’n Rusty, if you’re ever in Daytona Beach look me up at Halifax Harbour Marina E-4 Dock South Basin I am there from mid January until mid April. Never did get a chance to make a tour of the Florida facility. I am continuing to restore a 340 EC 1989 that is in great condition for it’s age and I love the larger cockpit area. I could use some paid tuition in handling this speed demon if you have any time on your hands.
I live most of the year in Bristol, England where our local boating club meets in in a restored lightship. Members have a responsibility to aid in maintaining and restoring the “ship club house” not for the fey or faint hearted. The club is Cabot Cruising Club And our ship is called The John Sebastian. I live aboard the Sea Ray at Daytona Beach during the dark days of winter and from time to time when visiting family and friends in the states. I have heard so much about you and I sincerely wish you all the best in your new pursuits. Sincerely, Carol Snow Budd
