Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

If my brother Brian lets us borrow his motorcoach ?? we'll be there. :smt001

Dee also wants to go to Nashville & to see Graceland while we're down there. :smt021 . :smt089.
wayne,
graceland is in Memphis not Nashville.

I have never been to a Sea Ray plant, so getting a factory tour and having the ability to take some of the new models for a test ride drive ought to be fun.

Cap'n Rusty
Do you think putting all the attendee names on Page 1 like we do with the other Rendezvous might be helpful so we can keep up with who is going?

I was fortunate to be included in a conference call with Rusty and the marketing folks at Sea Ray yesterday about the Knoxville Homecoming/Expo event. I know you all are interested in what is planned, the schedule, and what to expect. While we wait on an official agenda from Sea Ray, I think we should share what we know as soon as we can so everyone will know what to expect. Obviously, this is a Sea Ray event so they may change parts of this as needed to fit the assets they have available and their overall plans.

While not completely firm, the agenda is all about showing you the boats and giving you the opportunity to run and examine them up close and personal. You can expect to see everything in the 2013 line from the 17 to 37 feet. I am told that all the boats will be in the water and they will have captains available for sea trials on all of them. We can also expect to see some new and very innovative products that break some new ground and will likely include sport yachts and yachts. Unfortunately, that will not include the new jet boats, which will not be ready in time. Incidentally, one of the new products we may see is something we discussed on CSR at length last fall..........they didn't get the idea from us though as it was already in PD&E at that time.

There will be a Southern style barbecue lunch served at the Expo around mid-day as we know some of you may want to start home before an evening meal could be served.

I was told that this will be a buying opportunity and that Sea Ray will be offering one time incentives to only those attending the Homecoming Expo. If you aren't there, you don't get them. Any deal will be made with your local dealer, who will handle trades, order the new boat and deliver it for you........the Expo incentive will be on top of your best deal at the local Sea Ray dealer.

Finally, this looks like it might become an annual event for all owners, but that will only happen if we support the Homecoming/Expo this year. If you can come please work it out and add your name to the list.

Frank/Rusty
Thank-you for all of your hard work so far. I am in 100%. I have the time off and the room booked. Look very forward to meting everyone!

Rusty... yes look forward to shaking your hand and talking boat!

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

I concur with Jason, Rusty & Frank thanks for all your work on this and keeping everyone up to date.

Janet & I are booked into the Hampton Inn, Knoxville East. I've yet to determine the flights to get there, but we're always up for an adventure! We're actually coming into town on Wednesday, will spend a touristy day around town on the Thursday and be at the Expo on Friday! We'll leave on Saturday, so anyone who's around either night, we'll see you in the bar!

Hope you can put up with a couple of Canadians. We'll try to temper how many times we say "eh"...eh...

See you in September!

Mark

I am also at the Hampton east
coming in late thursday nite and rolling out Sat sometime
I will be Obvious in the parking lot

Something I forgot to mention is the older boats........

Sea Ray has some very early models dating back to Connie Ray's days and they would love for any of you with older boats to drag them down to Knoxville for a photo op with their "museum pieces." This would be a once in a lifetime event for older boat owners..........

We may be able to make this trip happen. I have a large project scheduled for that time but could work some things out to get there. I will post for sure when I know in stone. Rusty, thanks for making this happen. We've always wanted to take the tour!

Keep those cards and letters coming folks.

Someone has to say it, and since no one ever accused me of being bashful, I'll volunteer.

Here is something to remember:

Some Sea Ray employees and some friends of Sea Ray suggested this event to Sea Ray management for a couple of reasons, one being to give something back to the folks that support them. The "folks that support them" are you; the members of this forum.

That being said, the only way that this is gonna happen again next year is if there is a good/large/great turnout this year. I mean, who wants to go to the trouble to throw a party and have no one show up?

So, any behavior, other than bellying up and making a commitment to show up, that does not show support for the function that SR is putting on, means that the Marketing folks are going to spend next year's money someplace else because the bossman isn't gonna let them do this again if the turnout is not impressive.

It's one thing if you don't want to run your boat to Liberty Landing or Long Island or Atlantic City. However, all of us can get in the car and go embrace some Southern hospitality for a day or two.

Knoxville turns out boats between 20 some feet and 37 feet, if I remember correctly. So, if your boat is in that range, this should fit you to a "T". This isn't an Amway or Tupperware party and no one is going to be pushing you to buy anything. Although, if you are in the market for a new boat, I understand that THIS IS YOUR OPPORTUNITY FOR A GREAT DEAL.

So, strongly consider hopping in the car (or boat) and making your way to Knoxville for a meet and greet put together by the folks that made the boat that you take your family out in.

I will now temporarily climb down off my soapbox.

I'm bringing a car AND a boat
Well see if SR has a boat they built older than mine

And "good job" and two "attaboys" to both of you, so at least 6 of us are showing up.

So, how do we drum up enough interest to get another 50 or so?

As bad as everyone Hates duplication ...similar threads in regional and classic forums:huh:

Guys...I do events for my radio stations for charity. We find that the first one or two years are the toughest. While attendance may not be "huge", it's the reports back of a great event that get people back next year!

Let's make sure those of us there make the first one the best one. We'll build a huge event!
