Sea Ray Homecoming Cruiser/Sport Boat Expo !! Here we go!

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Hey gang. We're not ready to buy a new one. But we love events & Sea Rays. Would this be good for a trip from BC?

Mark,

We had an opportunity to take an unscheduled tour the Merritt Island facility earlier this year. Here are the details - http://clubsearay.com/showthread.php/50072-What-a-Surprise!

This event is planned on the back end of the dealer training school, so we should get the opportunity to see most of the Sea Ray line up. Plus seeing how these boats are put together is quite interesting.

If the way we were treated on our tour earlier this year is any indication, this event has the potential to be over the top.

Rusty

Will the factory have bigger (52' and up) DB's and DA's on hand?

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Rusty, just to confirm, this is expected to be an all-day event on Friday 9/14, correct? Just trying to plan my trip and determine how many nights I need to book. Thanks for setting all this up.

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

I think Rusty is on a boat today............so I'll take a shot at this given that you are trying to firm reservations.

Sea Ray's dealer meeting is Monday thru Thursday. All the new boats will be there, many in the water so they have asked us to come on Friday, 9/14, since all the boats etc. will already be set up for viewing, running, etc. I think Friday will be a pretty full day, depending upon how much you want to see and care to do. I would try to get to the Knoxville area either Thursday evening or stay close enough to get to the factory by about 8:30 or 9 Friday morning, although I don't think Rusty or the folks at Knoxville have mentioned a starting time. On the other end, if there are enough attendees for a dinner, the day won't be over until after dinner, so you would need to either stay in Knoxville or as close as you care to drive after a full day playing with boats.

For planning purposes, Sea Ray is located on the east side of Knoxville a little ways south of I-40.

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

If my brother Brian lets us borrow his motorcoach ?? we'll be there. :smt001

Dee also wants to go to Nashville & to see Graceland while we're down there. :smt021 . :smt089.

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Frank/Rusty,
Do you know if they will have any of the Sport Boats (From the Vonore Plant) at the corporate docks or will it just be the Cruiser from the Knoxville plant?

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Our Knoxville weekend follows their dealer showing of new boats. I'm pretty sure you'll see all the new boats in the line for 2013. I just don't know about carry over models.

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Darn, we are starting our vacation for a week on the boat down in the bay that day. I would have loved to made it out but will endeaver to get to the plant one day!

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Okie dokie..boating in T.S. Debbie is done for the day. Hope my responses are legible and readable as I may have been bounced around a bit. Even had to put on a mask and swim under her keel to remove a plastic bag sucked up in the A/C pick-up just so the Admiral of this new boat could have air conditioning for the night, gotta do what ya gotta do.

Let’s get back to work. Let me answer a few inquiries to start the conversation off…

Brian- The Tennessee groups build up to 37 foot models and I have been told that just about every model of TN built boats will be available for us on that Friday, to climb on, to ride in and take as many photos that you so desire…that’s cool!. For us to build one in Florida and then drive it up to Knoxville would not be too beneficial to anyone- boat would gain many hours just to make the trip and we do have Yacht Expo that really satisfies that support…tell me what you’re thinking and we both might be able to work on your intentions.

Jason78- We certainly hope you make it an all day event. I’ll even follow you to the lounge at the hotel afterwards if you want more dialog. We plan on feeding you and giving you as many plant tours and interactions with Sea Ray people that you can stand and a bunch of boat rides probably won’t hurt too much either!

Chuck- Dang near every model built in Tennessee will be there.

Alvin- Man do I wish you could make it to join us !

Mark (AMFM3) You don’t have to buy a boat boss, just come and hang out with CSR members

Casey- F.O.R. you have the WillyWonka card, use it ! You explain that to the crowd if you want.

Jim (aka mopar)- We are looking forward to you bringing your 600 down…I will insist that we showcase her next to one of Mr. Connie Rays first boats (that we have in our lobby)… I believe I can even do better than that and will explain when I see you in person.

Okay folks we are on a roll here so don’t slow down. Plan and simple, we plan on entertaining you with boats, barbeque and tours galore. I really thought the only hurdle to this venture would be lodging but thanks to Rick and the rest of you, I believe that is only going to be but a small bump in the road. I have inquired with the Knoxville group on how and where we may block some rooms but you guys are a day ahead of me by doing and eliminating the logistics before I can find solutions, thanks a ton! On my opening post, I listed some other venues and attractions that might make the weekend worth the trip for the entire family if our one day doesn’t float your boat but I see that is being covered (as usual) by insights from the crowd and local guy’s inputs.

I have also been instructed to tell the group that anyone that has a particular model that they are very interested in, to let us know so that we can make every attempt to have that boat available for review. This event will go the length of the day at least until closing time but again, if you believe this is the time to make your move toward something please allow me to do my utmost to put to next to your dream.

Keep feeding me your questions, concerns and advice…I am a traveling captain but sincerely want to make this a great thing for all of us so keep pushing me over the waves and let’s all look forward to the 1st annual Cruiser Expo and of course a Sea Ray Homecoming…that’s got a nice ring to it !!!!

Frank, thanks for filling the gaps in my absence.

Jason (Pryrojodge)- it’s time we slapped some flesh brother.

Ok gang...I'm looking into it. Flights are the issue...might be a whack of connectors to get to Knoxville. We'll figure it out. I'll also book the hotel. We'll probably get there on Wed night...leave Saturday or Sunday.

It will be great to hang with CSR folks.

Thanks Rusty for making this happen!

Also...this will be a great day for me to blog about! Can't wait...

Mark,

Take a look at flight connections into Nashville rather than Knoxville. Nashville is a major travel hub, more business travel and a ton of convention traffic so connections would be better. It would require a rental car, but is only a 2-1/4± hour drive and its all interstate roads.

Re: Sea Ray Homecoming/Cruiser Expo !! Here we go!

Thanks Frank. I was looking at a google map and thinking the same.

Going to book the hotel tonight...I'll let my travel lady figure it out.

Janet and I are really pumped! We may just bop down to Miami for the Raiders / Phins game on Sunday.

Going to be the final leg of an awesome 25th anniversary year!
