Does anyone know if the gold metal Sea Ray emblems on each side of the boat are affixed with some sort of surface cement or are there studs that go thru the fiberglass with nuts holding them on? I want to clean mine and it would be much easier to do so if they're off the boat. Any suggestions on what to use to clean them? I'm hoping the gold color layer doesnt come off if I rub a bit too hard.

They are plastic. They are held on with double-sided, sticky foam. A hair dryer or heat gun (carefully) will help to remove. I would only clean them with a normal cleaner. If you start sanding or buffing, you'll remove the gold. If their pitted, that's it.

Yes, they're still available at dealers (maybe not all - I think I remember seeing some on our shelves). Ebay, FP Marine.

Thanks for the info on the Sea Ray gold emblems. I checked out eBay too so thanks for that tip. Before I go ahead and buy new ones I'm going to remove them and paint them gold to see what happens. Found a very bright gold spray paint from Rustoleum. Nothing to lose if it doesnt turn out too well since I'll just go the replacement route.

since they are affixed probably by an adhesive, the old auto trick of taking off emblems is to use dental floss to "saw" through it for a clean removal without damaging the base surface.

I did this several times when debadging a few of my cars. works great.
