Wondering if tours of either of the Sea Ray plants/factories in the Knoxville area are open for tours ? I am planning on being in Knoxville in 2 weeks. Have any of you taken a tour ? If so, was it worthwhile ? Since I have a 250 Select, it would be great to see the actual facility that makes these, but I am not sure which plant. Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

chuck1 is organizing a 2008 July 4th trip to TN and it may include a tour. He's been on the MM trip that does a tour so he would know alot about it.

I'm pretty sure the 250 select is made at the Tellico plant not one of the Knoxville plants. I've done the the Knoxville plant tour a couple times. Pretty interesting to see how they are made and the insides of the boat. More wood inside them than I thought.

Hey Chuck, that sounds pretty neat. I have a 200 Select, I'd love to see how it was made. Do you have any good pictures from your tours that you could share?

Sea Ray does not allow photography inside the plant. Seeing the boats from the 1st mold to the the finish product give you a lot of info. Knowing where some of the hidden stuff is, and what is behind the fiberglass is priceless.

You may want to check you HIN. It will tell you where it was made. I think you are going to find SERV

SER (V) - Tellico Plant - Tennessee
SER (R) - Riverview Plant - Tennessee

I think the smallest thing made at the Riverview plant is now the 260SD. Everything smaller was moved to the Tellico plant some time ago if I remember correctly.

Tours are held all the time. Your boat is built at Riverview plant. You can call them at 865-637-3607. The Knoxville plant is about 2 miles away (building 28-34 feet) 865-525-9940. May be worth it to vist it also.

I stand corrected. TNRIDER is the 250 Select the smallest being made at Riverview now?

As always TNRIDER you are the Guy! Is the 240SD still the biggest boat being made at Tellico? You must work for Sea Ray?? You always seem to have some of the best info. Thanks again.

Question re: Tellico,

The 240SD is the largest model they make. They start with the 185SP, to 195SP, 200SD, 205SPT, 210SEL, 210FZN, 220SD, 230SEL, 230FZN, and 240SD.

Oh, didn't answer the "work at Sea Ray" question. I do not, I just boat in the area and watch them test the new boats and talk to the test catains to see what is being built etc...

"Test Captain" Now that would be my kind of Job. Do you think they would let me take each new model for a two week test run on the TN River:lol:

Hope to see you at 2008 CSR TN River Run.

250 Money Pit - Sorry I think I may have hijacked the thread. Back on topic. Let us know how your tour goes.

We attended a tour at the Knoxville (T) facility while our 300 was in production. The quality manager was our guide, and provided a very informative tour. We had our tour set up through our dealer to coordinate the run date of our boat. A very good tour, unless things have changed since 2006, don't look for a gift shop!
