I'm trying to change the sparkplugs on my Kohler generator and can't squeeze between the engine and deck to get to the plug facing starboard.

Looking at the section of deck on the starboard side of the engine hatch, it looks like I should be able to remove it but it won't budge and it doesn't have the handle and lock like the removable deck section on the port side. I can't see how it's held in place.

Any ideas besides lose 30 pounds?

I have the 2001, but hopefully it’s the same set up. I have to remove the seat above that section before it can be removed. Then it just pops up. It’s a real pain

Thanks Superwa. I've moved the legs of the seat out of the way but the thing will not budge. What was the "pain". Removing the seat or getting it pop up? I'm wondering if there is a screw or a latch holding it down so it doesn't go flying when things get bumpy.

Here's a picture. Not my boat but same model. The highlighted section is the one I want to remove. The red arrow is where I don't fit.

That’s what mine looks like. The seat is a pain to pop it up, but it comes off. Also did you turn the latches? It’s locked if you don’t turn them.

I looked for latches but didn't see them. How many are there and where are they located?

Thanks!!

There are two. I see one on your photo. That’s not just to pull it up.

I do see that in the photo behind the seat leg. My 380 is a 2000 model year and does not have that (I grabbed the picture from the web as an example because I'm not at the boat). My generator and 8.1 engines are upgrades from the original. I bet they put those latches in when they went to Kohler from Westerbeke,

Thanks for the reply....I think that answers my question.
