Boat Info
2000 sundancer 340
Engines
7.4 mpi v drive
2000 with 7.4s and v drives. I feel like unless I’m 3400rpm I’m extremely nose up. Is that normal? And yes trim tabs are all the way down. This is my first big boat. So learning what’s right and wrong. 3400 runs great boat tops at 35mph.

But we like to cruise slower it just feels odd to me being so nose high if I’m slow. But above an idle.

I had a 2000 Sundancer with the 7.4 Horizons 380 hp. Sweet spot was 3,400 to 3,600 rpm. And yes, she would bow high when adding power until she got up on plane and the bow would drop. My daughter hated that part.

Tabs, full water tank, and chain rode helps get the nose down

So sounds like if I want to cruise slow bow up is normal. We like to cruise 1800- 2000 or so just to enjoy the ride

I have a couple friends with that boat and they added tab extensions. That seems to help. I don’t know to what extent unfortunately.

2006 496 mags with Bravo 3s. Can cruise on plain @ 2850 rpms with tabs 50% down. Our normal cruise rpm is @ 3250, tabs totally up and speed of 33 mph.

Well established fact is Sea Ray is known for factory installed trim tabs are very undersized. Call Bennett and ask them to recommend replacements that will keep the bow down.

340 with 8.1s and vdrives. I can hop on plane at 1800-1900 RPM.
My rpm sweet spot is 3200 rpm for the engines. That does 27-28 on flat lake. Can push it up higher to 3800 to go 33-35.

Previous owner made these tweaks

Oversized Tabs (Id have to measure but they are almost double surface area of factory) and switched prop from 3 to 4 blade.

Check out Masterfabs blog, both these items he addressed
