Sea Ray 260-2007--Water Tank fitting Question

I'm having a problem with the freshwater system on my new to me 2007 Sundancer. I'm replacing the pump and strainer, because they system will not prime fully, and flow with any volume Lots of air in the system, and pump will not fully drain tank. No flow at all after tank is half empty.

Looking for air leaks on the supply side. Can someone tell me how the tank fitting on the water tank works? Is the tank fitting molded in, and non-removable? I see some leakage there when filling the tank, so I'm wondering if this is replaceable? Also, there is an pivoting elbow fitting that connects to the supply line to the pump.

Any input would be most helpful.

The suction side can have an air leak anywhere from the bottom of the pickup tube in your tank, to the pump inlet. It sounds like your problem is limited to that run. If the pump draws from the top of the tank, the outlet will have a tube running from close to the bottom of the tank, up to the fitting. Should you develop a crack in that tube, say at the midway point, then it would be revealed at the half empty point.. One way to test this out would be to drop a hose in through the inspection port of the tank, connected (water-tight) to the outlet hose. If the air ingestion issue goes away, the problem is with your pickup tube or its outlet fitting.

You can also get air in the system on the pressure side, but that almost always results from a water leak which should be visually traceable.

In addition to what Bob says, I would hold off on replacing the pump since you mentioned that there is zero flow after half empty. It could be a combination of things - ie: if the crack was ONLY half way down the dip tube, you should get good flow with a full tank. A clogged filter will exhibit some of these issues (it's cleanable). Start by removing the dip tube.
