Any ideas on this problem? I like to tow tubers and skiers on my 350 mag 5.7L Merc, but I'm having a problem getting a fast enough throttle response when I goose the throttle. If I slowly add power, it comes up appropriately. However, on quick throttle-ups to get a skier out of the water, the motor stutters and won't accelerate. Could this be an accelerator pump problem? It looks like the fuel is coming out when I goose the throttle. Could it be a fouled carb? Anybody have a website showing the process of rebuilding a quadrajet carb? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mine is a Weber, and the quadrajet is a Rochester. I found the actual shop manual for my carburetor on a the Internet and have it saved on my local drive. PM me if your's is the Weber, and I will send it to you.

It is easy to remove the top of the carburetor while it is still in the boat, and that is as far as you need to go to get to the accelerator pumps. If the engine idles and runs fine except on sudden throttle action, I would be very tempted to avoid a complete overhaul and just replace the pump seals.

You should be able to adjust the accelerator pump. There will be a long arm that has 3 holes in it, Closer the carb with give you more fuel and the further out on the arm you go the less fuel the pump will deliver.
