I have 2006 Sea Ray 185 Sport with 85 hours. The gelcoat is coming up in large pieces across the inside of the ski and bilge compartments. What does this mean and is there anything I can do about this? The outside hull bottom is crack free and shines like new. There is no rot that I can find underneath the large chips. The chips are roughly 2" X 3" in size and about 1-2mm thick. They sound like poker chips crashing together in the bottom of the boat. The boat is stored on the trailer and not left in the water when not in use. The boat has always been in fresh water.

How about a picture?

Sorry, I meant post some pics of the damaged area so the experts here can see what is happening. You have a beautiful boat though, thanks for sharing those pics.

I'd get your dealer (and subsequently Sea Ray) involved. I can't say I've ever seen that before, but it appears (my guess) that there must have been some sort of contamination between spraying the gelcoat and laying the glass (there's no wood to worry about). Based on your pictures, I don't think there's anything you're going to do to stop it from continuing. Sorry, I don't mean to be a downer, but I think your best bet is your local dealer.

Thanks for posting those pictures, that's way worse than what I imagined. I agree with contacting sea ray and working with your dealer. Sea ray has a lifetime hull and deck warranty so hopefully they will step up for you in this instance. I have never seen any sea ray do that, even really old ones. Good luck, and keep us posted on how things turn out.

My dealership is MarineMax of Cumming, Georgia. Thank you for the help and information guys! I will keep y'all updated on any repairs.

Pinkish underneath. Chips arent that big as in your photos but very well could be. This boat is doing my head in.

Will they fix it even though i am a 4th owner or 2nd owenr or something??
