I've been on this board for some time now and I think it is great to see OUR Brand step up to the plat with this innovation.

Feb. 19, 2013 - Sea Ray®, the world's leading manufacturer of superior quality pleasure boats, is pleased to announce that it was honored for innovative achievement by the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Boating Writers International (BWI) at this year's 72nd annual Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show & Strictly Sail.

Sea Ray received a 2013 Innovation Award for its new 370 Venture® featuring a patent-pending design with two concealed Mercury Verado® outboards. "We are very gratified to receive this award, which recognizes the emphasis Sea Ray is placing on developing and championing new technologies," said Joe Cacopardo, director of marketing for Sea Ray. "Our goal is nothing short of reimagining the boating experience, not just to elevate Sea Ray but also to raise the bar industry-wide."

In honoring the 370 Venture in Miami, the judges noted that the boat uniquely incorporates cutting-edge propulsion technology in a fiberglass express cruiser powered by fully concealed outboard engines. "Finally, we have another option when it comes to powering a mid-sized cruiser: a pair of four-stroke outboards that increases interior volume and creates a luxurious master cabin," said Alan Wendt, first vice president of BWI and contributor to several marine industry publications.

The Concealed Outboard Propulsion(TM) found aboard the 370 Venture combines the best traits of outboard and inboard power. The rewards are quieter operation, better shallow-water capabilities, lower maintenance costs and remarkable onboard space.

Twin 300-hp Mercury Verado four-stroke outboards are housed under hoods to either side of the center transom walkthrough. Maintenance is a breeze: simply lift the cowls to check your oil and your fluids. The Verados offer exceptionally low noise and vibration for a quiet, smooth ride. In addition, the captain has the ability to trim the outboards to fine-tune performance. Getting the running gear out of the water also means less exposure to the elements, possibly extending the boating season and improving longevity of the propulsion system.

Taking advantage of the small footprint of the outboards, Sea Ray was able to push the engine room bulkhead as far aft as possible, creating the most stateroom space achievable in this size boat. The amazing aft master stretches from beam-to-beam, with an angled berth of Visco elastic foam and storage beneath. End-to-end horizontal hull windows allow a flood of ambient light, and a refined interior design features bright, natural tones to enhance the open and airy feel.

In the cockpit, space is maximized with multiple seating areas; an outdoor galley with a stainless-steel sink and faucet, refrigerator, induction stove and loads of storage; and two sun pads with adjustable backrests that allow passengers to lounge either sitting up or laying down flat.

The Innovation Awards, organized by the NMMA and judged by the BWI, recognize products that best meet criteria, including innovative distinction from other products currently being manufactured; benefit to the marine industry and/or consumer; practicality; and cost-effectiveness.

In addition to this 2013 Innovation Award, Sea Ray won a 2012 Innovation Award for its Quiet Ride(TM) sound reduction technology. Other recent recognitions achieved by the company include the new 510 Sundancer® being named an Editor's Choice winner by the AIM Marine Group; the 410 Sundancer® being named a Best Boat of 2012 by Boating magazine; and the 370 Venture being named the Boat of the Year 2012 by Boating magazine.
