Soo, i notice today as im swimming up by the bow of my boat, theres all kinds of scratchs where the front eye is under the bow (where you connect the winch line to) it looks like my clear white rubber/plastic? piece is scratching the shit out of the boat! so first, how can i prevent this god awefull tragedy, and secondly i think i can just buff out the scratchs (hopefully).

just scratchs from the rubber holding the boat tight to the trailer in the front. I will snap some pictures tomorrow. But it looks horrible!

wipe it with acetone first, maybe is not even a scratch just vinyl residue?

capt jack,

You are correct, it is scuffed. The same thing happened to my '06 185. It's the bow roller on your trailer that's causing it. The bow roller is supposed to be non-marring but it does it anyway. The only advice I can give, is to make sure the boat is winched up tight against the roller. This will minimize the boat's movement on the roller when you are trailering. Also, wipe down the roller before putting the boat onto the trailer after a day of boating to make sure there isn't any foreign material present which will scratch your boat even more. If you "feel" the roller, you will notice there are some rough areas, especially around the edges of the roller. I used fine grit sandpaper to smooth out those edges to further minimize scratching. I also put a couple of coats of marine polish on the roller and bow area of the boat to further minimize friction. The guys at Marine Max told me it's an unfortunate reality with the bow roller on the 185. Hope this helps.

can you have the bow roller replaced? There surely has to be something better for this..
